Yup, all the replacements are basically lacking any experience at all. Unless we portalize a new team, it will be ugly. Of course that begs the question, why recruit HS at all if you are only going to lean on transfers. Weird time.

Dockery gone. Not sure if he was going to get minutes or not next year.

What was the embarassment exactly? We had a great season. Lost some, but won a whole lot more. We ultimately lost a game to a 5 seed, we were a 4 seed, where we were a tiny favorite. We led for a large portion of the game and went cold (something we have done all year) at the very end. We didn't roll out there and lose by 30. The hyperbole needs to stop. You guys that think you're entitled to a team winning, need to get some perspective.

To be fair, though, we never actually get to see the talent of the players. I think Buzz's system is pretty good in that you can just pick a mid player off the bench and he could fill in without too many difficulty. There exceptions like Payne for instance but we have no real stars and haven't in a while so to replace 80% of the guys probably doesn't mean as much as it would to another team. I am confident that Buzz will get his team to play well enough to make the tournament again next year or at least be on the bubble. That's pretty much what most people on here were expecting/wanting with the exception of a deep run at the tournament every few years. And from what I've seen in Buzz's tenure, I'd be shocked if that ever actually happened while he is here.

This post is exactly why we are a national joke.

I don't get that comment either . Was he calling the basketball program a national joke or the comment a national joke? Neither is true .

This dude's posts are pretty clear, he thinks we're a national joke in everything. Now does he have any ideas on how to fix that? Who can say. But practically every post is trashing the program, the coaches, the athletic department, or other posters for "accepting mediocrity" which is the most classic internet tough guy phrase around here.

Like if we all rage post like him Buzz is going to see it and go "holy **** these guys are right, I should sign better players now."

Let's see, where to start…we have won literally nothing since 1998.

Nothing.

Except we've spent in the top 5 (if not more) to achieve…

absolutely nothing.

That absolutely constitutes a national joke.

This is as much my school as it is yours, whether you like it or not. Yet, your ilk has had the sole say in how we are to respond, as fans, to our school's embarrassing athletic history since about 1939. And that's "be good little Aggies, shut up, accept it, thank our athletic department at every turn for the bile it continuously puts out and never, EVER say a critical word about A&M in any regard or you are a 2%er, sip troll, etc."

Imagine taking that approach in any other aspect of life, yet when it comes to A&M, you better keep your mouth shut.

And we wonder why the result never changes.

I don't want the school I went to, to be average. I want it to be competitive. In everything. And it's not. Because you guys won't do what it takes to get there. And that is, to hold people accountable.

But you won't. And on and on we will go.

As far as I can tell, we are all of us doing the same thing you are doing, which is whining on texags about something we cannot control or impact in any meaningful way.

Okay so 1998 is the benchmark. I'm assuming you're referring to the conference championship in football, yes? So a conference title is "something."

Well since then, we won the SEC regular season in basketball in 2016. We won the Big 12 regular season in baseball three times. We won the SEC and Big 12 baseball tournaments four times. We won a national championship in women's basketball and several other smaller sports that you're choosing not to care about for some reason...

Literally nobody is saying don't be critical. Even me, the "goaltender of mediocrity," is on here complaining about our offense all season. I've been critical of how Buzz put his staff together. I've been critical of this defense that we run.

But I also choose not to just be miserable all the time because unless I win the lottery and suddenly have a billion dollars to help A&M sports, there's nothing I can do about it.

What change do you even want? A stern letter to the Athletic Department to "do better?"

What's happening within the confines of the basketball court for men's basketball is not broken, no matter how much you think it is, or how much you want to win a couple extra games or whatever. You are more likely to ruin the recipe than improve it at all.
Fat Bottom Squirrels

Granted. Now, let's compare that resume to the other schools who have spent similar to what we have spent over that time frame and see where we land. I have a feeling we don't want that answer.

Anyway, I hope you know that I am not attacking you, or anyone else personally. You have an opinion on fandom and so do I and they are completely adverse. But I hope you're not taking it personally.

For the most part your posts have been fine, but blanket saying our student athletes have no loyalty was a step too far unless you have some kind of evidence for that. Some of them do. They want to win more than we do I'm sure. Criticize their play, sure, but to criticize their loyalty is unnecessary when several of these athletes are really involved and successful students.
Fat Bottom Squirrels
How long do you want to ignore this user?
But I guess that is my point. I don't expect loyalty from our players anymore now that NIL has entered the chat. That ship has sailed. It's 100% a quid pro quo business now and I expect performance, not loyalty (like it used to be before NIL). So, for example, if Wade was about to be a senior here and we offered him (just an example) $1 mill a year, but someone else offered him $1.5 mill to transfer, I would never in a million years blame him for leaving. ANY OF US WOULD DO EXACTLY THE SAME!

But now that we are paying you to perform, I don't think you are immune to criticism any longer. In short, I don't think student athletes can still have it both ways.

bobinator

The ship has sailed to you. It doesn't mean it's sailed to them. Maybe you consider this deal to be 100% transactional now, but that doesn't mean the other side does. "I don't expect loyalty, therefore I can say whatever I want" is a pretty self-centered approach when you have no idea if the other said is loyal to this school or not.

And again, nobody is saying don't criticize their play. We all criticize their play.

I don't know if we have the money to get what we need in the portal. We were behind in basketball and I think seeing what football has done and what baseball is going this year, people that matter are probably rethinking do they want to continue to give what they have to NIL. It's not producing results

This is going be interesting to watch. Everyone says NIL is what matters most. But how far can we go until there's no point in throwing away money. Baseball is a great example, it's a total waste.
The way college sports is headed with the NIL...... I could see the next step in the college athletic process being a mandatory tax placed on all ticket purchases.
A $100 ticket will now be $104 with that 4% tax going toward the payments to the athletes.

The upkeep of the facilities, the salaries of the players, and the expense of the support staff will be thrust upon the donors and the fans who buy tickets.

This is the commitment it will take from schools and their fans if you want to compete for championships in the NIL era.

Nah, I think we should start some wild rumors about the guys still on the team.

Like I heard the reason they didn't play at all is because they're so good that they embarrassed the other guys but there weren't enough of them yet and they didn't mix will with the style of play of the others.

Mills and Turkson have an elite pick and pop game going and people within the program are calling Ratowski the Polish Luka.

Kind of was the year. Won a lot of games beat a number one team. Lost in a single elimination game against a team that was way better than a five.

When you look at all the other brackets and the teams who were 1-4, Michigan was ranked pretty much exactly where they needed to be. I think a lot of other teams besides A&M could've made them look very pedestrian (not unlike how A&M themselves did in parts of the second half Saturday).

Pretty instructive imo. Duke , Purdue, Mich St and UH pretty easy to figure out. I suspect our starting lineup next yr will have 2 maximum that started playing here.

Wade Taylor
Henry Coleman
Andersson Garcia
Zhuric Phelps
Manny Obaseki
Hayden Hefner
Jace Carter
CJ Wilcher

That is an insanely senior based team. I guess we move onto our next 6 year plan.
What exactly happens at the end of 6yrs? This is a 100 yr + plan....

Tough to rebuild when you can't recruit and when kids with talent see it wasted with junk offense and poor time clock management.

You don't have to be a basketball genius to see what we have to offer in coaching is not particularly attractive.
