I can't really speak on that at all to be honest. I do not have any connections with the program or anything like that. I am just a fan who has employed Google and X to find who we've been talking to.LFerd12 said:Marksman thank you brother. The Marksman said:This list I posted above was solely players that we've been in contact with. This list was an attempt at following guys we are interested in. It's a recipe for disappointment and frustration to be adding guys we aren't interested in but you guys think we ought to get. Seriously, what's the point?
Do you have any insight into why Buzz chooses to reach out to one player versus another?
Is it not safe to assume that Buzz would look to reach out to the kids that are maybe thinking they would like to come back to Texas and be closer to home/family?
What I can say broadly is that oftentimes coaches will recruit players out of high school(or even in a prior year's transfer portal cycle) and not land them initially, but then maybe they go into the portal later on and there's a preexisting relationship. Not sure if that's the case with any of the guys we're after, but it very well could be.
Another thing to keep in mind is that just because we're in contact with a player doesn't mean there's mutual interest or even an offer being made. We might reach out to a guy who's already made up their mind and doesn't give us a chance, or we might reach out and then decide we don't want to extend an offer.
As to your point, Buzz and staff certainly could use the "playing closer to home" pitch on some players; that one definitely can work. And I think we all know that he's looking for a certain type of young man when he recruits; he calls them OKGs(Our Kinda Guys).
