I think the idea is that he's a proven, competent coach that as at least decent with X's and O's and has shown to be competitive in the SEC over a decent sample size.

I imagine the thought process is that Miss State is likely behind us in resources/funding, so that pair Jans with a bit more $$$ and you've got a solid team.

I don't think anyone thinks Jans is a guy that could/would take us to that elite level though.

this is my pick. high point had losing records before he took over. he has been there two seasons and they have won 56 games. it is not sexy but i think he is a really good coach. would allow for more nil money as well so we could potentially keep payne and solo. and make some quality additions.

I don't know enough about Huss to say I agree with him as the choice, but I agree with your line of thinking that I'm fine risking a 3-4 year failure if there's significant upside.

I'd rather go that route than go with a guy like underwood or Jans or someone else along those lines who hasn't been bad but also hasn't done anything special

People are talking about lutz, and he made the tourney 2 out of 2 years at A&M chorpus Christi and his one year at western Kentucky but his first year at ok st was only 17-18

I also like the idea of Huss. Try to land the next Oates versus spending insane cash in a bidding war against another big time school. Beard was worth it. But any other SEC coach, you have to spend too much for current mediocre results. Cause the proven coaches are not leaving.

If we hire Moser, our AD should immediately be fired.

Do not agree with Duke comment and hiring Chris Carrawell. My guess is he could recruit really well and he has a nice track record as a journeyman asst coach. But....like Earley...no HC experience so get him cheap. What I dont like? He replaced Jeff Capel. Jeff coaches Pitt and is a 500 level coach at Pitt. Capel would be a MUCH MUCH better hire than Carrawell. And Capel was fired after 2 seasons at OU. Neither is a valid candidate.

I can't exactly say why but something about us picking someone that was so far down that list makes me feel happy. Maybe just the fact that we weren't predictable.
