That was the thing he said that stood out to me most, I like that confidence. I'm paraphrasing here but he said next year might be interesting (equivalent to starting on August 1st with 1 player) but if resources are there for basketball he knows that this place can be a winner.

I have no expectations next year but if he shows signs of what he said today, that will be amazing.

His most emphatic point is that he is all in on a relationship with the 12th Man. He is embracing everyone that is showing up to support this program, and HE WONT FORGET THEM!

A very different tone than some of our previous coaches.

Hopefully he'll push for more local community interest and involvement in the program.

I dont think he knows any other way than to do this. Totally different style and vibe with this guy. He is what we need an outgoing guy who will buy in, Buzz never fully did that. He won games and did it clean and he left on his own not screwing the school out of a ton of money. There is something to be said for that as the players graduate and behave.

not saying they will have the same end results but the most comparable hire coming in i can think of is kermit davis.

We need to get hyped students to every home game. I rarely missed Barone's teams at G Rollie. At grad school in Illinois, it was impossible to get bball tickets.

I'd be coming coming a lot if I didn't live 3 states away. That is so embarrassing. What needs to happen here? Why aren't students more interested?

If this guy's the real deal, I can only hope our brass are smart enough to make sure he stays put.
There's no reason why we can't become a top tier basketball destination.
We don't need to be part of the farm system for the blue bloods

I went to Bucky's event at Reed yesterday… here is what I saw:

1. Young guy, high energy
2. Not quite polished from a media point of view most of that could be operating on 3 days of adrenaline and no sleep.
3. Wants to be in the community and of the community.
4. Plans on winning and the games entertaining.

Not a bad start.

Disappointed in the turn of events of Coach Williams, but he left and was not let go. So good luck to him.

Looking forward to next season.

No reason for our coaches other than brass ineptitude

Fan involvement mirrors department investment of time and money. As much as it is true that A&M was very good at basketball this year, the casual fan did not know it. There is still more traffic for an average baseball team than there was for an exceptional basketball team. (coming from a student who went to almost all of the home games)

His track record as a community outreach guy and fan-engager is one of his biggest positives IMO. We've not had a men's basketball coach do it to the extent it seems like he's planning to in the modern era. We'll need to be able to keep that enthusiasm up after what's likely to be a non-tourney year 1, but engaging the fanbase is going to go a long way toward building up the home atmosphere and driving financial support for the team.

Historically, i don't disagree. But that's not what i'm getting at.
If this guy really takes off and leads TAMU basketball upwards into some uncharted territory....i can only hope we stay with it, stay behind him, and give him everything he needs to continue to succeed RIGHT HERE

Said another way, BCG went to Kentucky, simply because this is basketball, and "it's Kentucky". Comparatively, yeah, there's no comparison.

I'm saying I'm hopeful that if this really takes off, we'll engage to a point where great coaches won't be phased by the UK's, the KU's, the UNC's, etc. etc....and they can still enjoy a top tier situation, right here, going forward.
