Hasn't even coached a game. The buzz hate has reached unhinged levels.
Bucky could be worse than Barone and I'd still be happy that at least we didn't have to keep seeing that brand of basketball here again.
This can't be a real post
Real as can be. We had 6 years of Buzz ball. I don't want to to keep seeing the same brand of boring basketball with bad shooters that will NEVER get to where we hope to go. I'd rather take a chance on someone who can produce an exciting style, and if he ends up losing and sucking oh well, fire him and find someone else.
I wanted nothing to do with another year of Buzz ball. I'm a Steelers fan. There's nothing worse than being elite at finishing just good enough to not be bad.
Im also a Steelers fan. And I flat out don't care if we win games with a safety 2-0. A win is a win. I'm not here for exciting. I'm here for winning
Y'all are gonna be wildly shocked when Buzz's offense at Maryland is vastly better than ours. What we ran is nothing like he did at Marquette or VT. He ran that system because it gave the quality of player he could obtain here the best chance at winning
I agree with this, but a lot of that is on Buzz, not on A&M. Yeah, we aren't the upper tier of NIL in the conference, but I guarantee you with a similar record, Bucky will have (and would have had) better NIL resources at his disposal.
It's been echoed here by many, and I have a very small avenue of knowledge into it as well, that Buzz had zero desire to play the NIL game. He didn't want to campaign for it, didn't want to glad hand for it and didn't build any relationships to try to increase the funds. His attitude toward NIL mirrored his attitude toward recruiting (while at A&M). So he basically had the bare minimum NIL available to him for the level of success the program had.
If he's got more base level NIL at Maryland, things will be different. And maybe he will have a different attitude about it to, being at a school where basketball isn't well behind football in popularity.
And if he does have a lot of success, I hope our bigger donors see that and hate it and it causes them to pump more $$$ into the program. But Bucky's approach so far will yield much better support across the board, IMO if we have the same level of on-court success.
Winning will be the most important thing though. Bucky has got to figure out a way to have at least some success in year 1 so that he can have a good/better roster in year 2 and take that into year 3. If he is having to completely reload in year 2, the program is going to be in trouble.
