If you live 1400 miles away and only miss a few games a season, you may be the best Aggie basketball fan in existence. Hat tip to you.

I seriously doubt that. I usually miss the away conference games but try to make the big non-conference and tournaments.

Sounds like you are saying we need better fans.

Hopefully, switching to all digital tickets will encourage more season ticket holders to sell or give away their tickets when they can't attend a game.

I think being too cheap is probably true, but it's still quite a large jump for people who actually do go to stomach.

Some Horn friends of mine went to the SEC tournament last year and said they encountered a couple of UK fans that had A&M season tickets because they were the cheapest in the conference (no idea if true). Their whole goal was getting cheaper and guaranteed tickets to the SEC tournament that they otherwise couldn't get through UK. They sold them as often as they could and that did enough to offset some cost to make it worth it to them.

Seems insane just for SEC tournament tickets, but it's UK fans were talking about.

Our seats are not courtside but are 3 rows off the floor directly across the court from the Aggie bench. We are at the end of the row, about even with the top of the key. Two rows behind dermdoc.

Our seats went up about $600 per seat. However, if we ever give them up I doubt we will ever get seats as good as these again.

We have always enjoyed attending basketball games more than FB games. Plus, I think the basketball will be more fun to watch this year.

So we are hanging in there.

Bought a new TV and beverage fridge for the man cave. Eliminate gas and concession cost. Improved ROI. Problem solved.

Yeah, I mean it obviously sucks for the people that do have those seats, nobody likes paying more money for the same thing. Especially when last year's home non-con schedule had two power conference teams on it (Ohio State, Wake) and this year we don't have any that we know of yet.

But again they need to create more value for people to want to be season ticket holders.

The three themes to me that create value for people are exclusivity, connection and access. There are just ideas off the top of my head but have some open practices, exclusive merch just for season ticket holders (or at least early access to the release of new merch, though that would involve having decent basketball merch...), a simple scouting report sent to season ticket holders before each game, a preseason meet and greet with the players, free one-day basketball camp in the summer for kids of season ticket holders, who knows, the possibilities are endless.

But they need to make it feel like you're missing out on something awesome if you're not a season ticket holder. If you do that then people don't mind as much about spending the money and you get some people who right now don't see any reason at all to get season tickets to get them.

I have 4 season tickets but my wife and kids maybe attend half of the games. I rarely miss one. I have trouble giving away extra tickets or finding people to go. I generally try to post on seat geek but they don't always sell.
Will be tough to justify renewing. Could just buy from secondary market for the games that are easier to attend. Would definitely attend less games which may be a nice change with a typically busy schedule.

good idea, but it seems like each sport has their own side clubs to raise money and provide access and other things you mention. I guess I mean they offer that, but they want more money.

I just don't think they really care. They are counting on loyalty, it's always been that way for most sports and season tickets. I had season tickets until they jacked them up during Kennedy era.

And for the story above on the UK fan that buys season tickets to Aggie MBB. I might have met that same person at MBB. They live in Houston and said they never can get tickets to UK home game. So they buy A&M season tickets so they can see UK when they come to town and then sell the rest if they can. Then get SEC tourney tickets. I thought that was amazing actually. That's a true fan. I wonder if that person is also buying sip season tickets now.

Yeah, some of that is I think because of how NIL was structured, but now if the majority of money is coming from the athletic department (presumably through things like increasing ticket prices...) they need to tie all that in together.

But I don't know, this is just one guy's opinion, maybe they've got it all figured out, but I'm a pretty hardcore basketball fan and don't see any real benefit to buying season tickets at the moment.

I'm going to renew and was considering picking up another seat, but now with the price increase I'll probably hold off on adding an additional seat.

i don't think they have it figured out. Or I don't think they even think they need to figure anything out.

I just don't think our AD, TMF whoever are very good at customer service or engagement. The have one marketing plan. Give money or you're a bad Aggie. Its all loyalty based. You should buy tickets and give money because that's what good Aggies do.

Specifically to Reed Arena, I just think it's a square peg and we need to put it in round hole. And it just won't work. I don't see why they can't make some fan experience improvements that then can be used by students during the week and then maybe be open for football games

I was very impressed with Clemson arena, i think it was Clemson. They dressed up the facade and i thought they have like a food court area that is used during the week for students. And is open before football games to eat, sit down outta the weather, etc.

I've had tickets for most of the years since Reed opened. Dropped them for about 5 years when my son was playing AAU and high school since I was missing too many A&M games. Had some cheap seats last year. I love basketball, but I am not renewing at these prices. I'll also just buy from aftermarket for games I want to go to and watch the rest on my big screen. It will be interesting to see how these prices affect attendance and revenue.

The notion we get to perpetually complain and yet have no duties is a truly odd one. The school will respond accordingly because that's their instinct anyway.

Mine are going up 30% or $200 per ticket. It seems like a lot especially given I'm 1400 miles away and end up missing/selling a few.

It kind of seems like they are trying to get to scalper prices.

I definitely will not be seeking better seats as I thought I might.

Hats off to you man. I live 1200 miles away and the only Aggie sports I've seen live the last 3 years are golf and VB when they won the Arizona State regional this year.

It's interesting that if we're using the NIL issue as a justification for the price increase like Tennessee did with football, where the hell does all of the TV rights money go ? Seriously to escalate basketball ticket prices when you can't even consistently sell out your existing inventory is so fundamentally wrong economically that it really brings into question the budgetary wisdom of our leaders.

Agreed. Hey we aren't making enough money! Let's raise prices. People drop season tickets. Hey we are making less money now. How'd that happen?

I have had tickets at GRW, then upper level seats at Reed for awhile, and now have seats in 119. Last year I paid $1500 for two seats but this year I'm paying $1800. Depending on the date and time of the midweek games, I can get to those and fortunately I have a friend in CS that normally buys the weekday games I can't get to. Still, this is not a good thing. Beef up our non SEC sched a little bit and don't play games on a Friday night when we have football the next. And yes, I want my cake too.
Peace for Ukraine!

Ouch worse than expected for me, 317% increase with change in seating classification to prime balcony. Tickets had gone up about 10% each of the past couple years. Tickets went from good value to more than I am willing to pay in a single year... One of the seats has a major site restriction with the rails by the stairwell. Would hate to be a person only buying two with the end seat being terrible. FYI, first row in 203, 207, 219, 223, side closest to the stairs to go down to concourse.

I had debated keep two, but not worth it. Should be able to get in the door until after spring semester starts up for single dollars per game for the most part. Though seats will need to sell for a lot more to try and recoup cost increases. First deck baseline seats now better value than my current seats.

My 4 in 203 have been $560 for several years now, no real increase. Split with some buddies. We generally get to 1-2 non-cons and maybe 4-5 conference games. We sell the rest.

I have no issues with an increase, it is warranted. Past few years have seemed like a value. However, it will now be $1600. That's a huge jump and generally feels like a targeted attempt to dissuade season ticket holders in the upper deck. I understand the attendance issues and no shows from holders. But this now becomes an exercise in financial value, and the gameday atmosphere pre-game, in-game, and post-game both around campus and inside Reed does not deliver. Pair that with the disastrous parking/accessibility of Reed Arena and now I have to truly put thought and financial planning into a decision to buy season tickets that generally sell for $2 on an open market for 75% of games. Talk about missing the mark.

Love this from the 12MF. They have not squeezed you enough with significant price increases.

"with a per-seat ticket fee rising from $15 to $25, to offset credit card processing, system, and operational expenses, according to the 12th Man Foundation."

Then they offer you the opportunity on the renewal to donate extra to cover the credit card processing.

Wow, that's not a great look. They really should move to a percentage-based fee structure to better align with credit card processing costs.

That said, I just became a brand-new season ticket holder as of yesterday! Hoping the recent drop-offs work in my favor when it comes to seat selection. Looking forward to Bucky Ball!

Haven't read all posts above so sorry if this is repetitive.
My seats in 119 went from $750 to $900. 20% increase. I renewed but only because it's partially a business expense. If it was not I would have dropped out to see what they do next year. And I would have just bought individual games on SeatGeek. I'm betting on A&M.

My other thought is that in general, there are always changes in life. But as Garth said in Wayne's World, "we fear change!"

Meh. Quit whining. If you want in on the ground floor on BuckyBall then get in. Of course you might think being in the 200s isn't exactly the ground floor…

Our 2 tickets went from $1,140 to $1,480. 30% increase! We will renew because we have literally had these seats since Reed Arena opened. But, a 30% increase is a little steep. Will be interesting to see what attendance is like this season.
