You're surprised they've fallen off from what? They've had 4 losing seasons on the last 5. They haven't won a tournament game in 13 years. They're terrible.

I don't know, but Hurley has been HC for a long time and I thought they had some top 3 or 4 finishes in Pac 12. And before that, they had Sendek a long time with some higher finishes in conference. Not setting world on fire, but strong. I guess Big 12 is that much harder and Hurley must be on verge of being fired if they are cranking off losing seasons.

He's been at ASU for 11 years and never won the conference nor has he won an NCAA tournament game. I live in their neighborhood and would like them to be good because it makes it more fun to go.

It was a preseason exhibition at this event center.

The event center needs eyeballs and interest it's been a colossal waste of money and space.

Surprised the teams didn't get paid to come here!

It was a pre-season exhibition. Aggies-ASU was followed by UHouston-MissSt. Lots of Coog fans in the house for the Aggie game.

I'm pretty sure they did pay all participating teams. Why else would they come?

That venue is puzzling, but that's a conversation for another thread.

It has hosted some gun shows, two "monster truck" events, AAU type basketball and volleyball competitions and cheerleading competitions.

Also some private parties for the elected officials and school district.


I've been once and it's a pretty odd layout TBH.

I figured that those pre-season invitational tourney's just paid for like the hotel bill and not for travel etc.

But I don't really know.

It hosted graduation for all of the LCISD high schools as well as a number of FBISD schools. And was the home venue for a Houston professional volleyball team.

For us I can see the benefit of simulating a road game before we actually go on one. Again, whole new staff, all new players, etc.

Well that's where they finished last year and compared to the rest of their league they didn't exactly doing anything inspiring in the offseason.

KenPom actually has them projected 7th behind Houston, Tech, Iowa State, BYU, Arizona and Baylor.

It's going to be interesting if they get to a breaking point with Self this year like Kentucky finally did with Calipari.

It was an exhibition game with an entirely new roster that was missing 2 significant pieces, and a first year coach with a completely different style of play than we've seen for 5 years. And winning is better than losing.

I agree that expectations need to be realistic, but isn't it kind of early to be crapping on outcomes when the season hasn't even hit game one yet?
