You mean a team that was just assembled months ago hasn't developed the chemistry that a team that had played together for years under the same coach?

Aside from your captain obvious statement- it remains true that what we saw game 1 was a better product than what Buzz put on the floor. And we're not insulting the players from last season. We saw a team coached to play basketball in all facets, not just defense.

The revisionist history over the Buzz tenure is getting to absurd levels. Ags act like we watched Melvin Watkins the last 4 years

I don't like it. It's like we're actively trying to tank our rebound numbers.

To be fair JMJLAW was nothing if not consistent in how much he absolutely hated Buzz's style of basketball. For the last several years he's only been showing up when we lose to talk about how awful it is.

For some reason JmJlaw posting in the game thread of the very first game of the 2017-2018 season against West Virginia at Ramstein AF base has always stuck in my head. We looked pretty bad like the first 10 minutes or so and he posted something to the effect that the team was trash and time to throw in the towel on the season (he of course did not like Kennedy ball) and then late in the first half the Aggies woke up and blew out West Virginia winning by 20+ and he took a lot of game thread heat for that.

That was the second of Kennedy's two Sweet Sixteen seasons and that team looked great at times but was also inconsistent with some knucklehead issues (multiple violation of team rules suspensions if I recall) and I totally got anyone having a love/hate relationship with that particular group.

Buzz took us to three straight NCAA tournaments and even flirted with winning the SEC one of those seasons so yeah of course he wasn't a 'bad' coach. He was/is a solid coach.

But I totally get folks enjoying a change from Buzz. His teams typically won games 'the hard way' relying on getting fouled and getting offensive boards, etc., it was a grind, and he also always seemed very insular in that it was Team Buzz rather than Texas A&M Basketball. Besides the style looking very much different, Bucky just seems much more open and transparent.

All very reasonable. Change is fine and even good. Bucky may take us to even higher peaks. It's just the people that act like we were in the stone ages for the last half decade that I can't take seriously

The lack of BigDance success was annoying, but I very much enjoyed the last few years as a season ticket holder. Lots of very fun wins over top teams. Very likeable group of players including an all-timer in Wade

Buzz is a good coach imo . Just not good enough to commit to financially for another 5 + yrs . I think our powers that be made the right decision and Buzz probably did too. Very early returns suggest our powers that be also did very well on hiring his replacement .

People also forget that we didn't fire Buzz, Maryland hired him away. Sure, we didn't fight hard to keep him, but if Maryland didn't come calling he would still be the coach here.

I think most of us were ready for a change because we all knew that Buzz had assembled his best team and still coudln't make it to the second weekend, but I'm not sure we would've fired him.

He was looking for a raise and extension tho and I think it was clear he was shopping around to get what he wanted . I agree we wouldn't have fired him nor should we have .

We definitely wouldn't have fired him. That's where the whole disconnect was on here last year. People acted like if you said it was unreasonable to expect us to fire Buzz that it was the same as you thinking Buzz was kind of elite coaching savant.

We weren't going to pay $15M or whatever it was going to be to fire a coach coming off a four-seed season, back to back seasons with a win in the NCAA Tournament, and three straight tournament appearances. Whatever people thought about his personality or style of basketball, it was one of the best three-year runs in program history and Buzz was nowhere close to the hot seat, no matter how much people hated how we played.
