Well the defensive game plan did force 23 turnovers and had 14 steals. Easy buckets are rendered irrelevant

I really like how we can appear to be 'struggling' and you blink and we're up by 10 or 20.

Yeah at one point in the 2nd half it said we were on an 18-2 run in under 2 minutes and I thought the stat was wrong

Agreed against Texas Southern it was irrelevant, but most of the teams we play this year will do a better job protecting the ball.

Some of the defensive issues are probably fixable given almost the entire team and coaching staff has been together for 6 months.

Overall, I'm really excited to see us run a modern offense, but the defensive cracks we've had aren't something to be glossed over.

Interesting that NBA teams are pressing higher up the court this year…

The early NBA trend that's turning heads? The rise of the full-court press

Yeah, I've only seen the opener but after watching Maryland tonight I'm feeling good. Better to see what more you can achieve than to know what you already got.

Bucky has stated in his interviews multiple times that we're gonna give up easy buckets. It's just part of the press. I wouldn't expect much to change in the defensive scheme department

We're going to give up easy baskets in the press, I think what's bothering people more is that we give up easy looks in the half court also but I'm not worried about that yet either.

For one, building defensive chemistry just takes time even if you have decent roster continuity and we have zero of it.

But I also just frankly don't expect us to be very good defensively this year. High effort, we'll force some turnovers, and hopefully as it improves it's good enough, but this roster just looks like it's made for offense and we need ti maximize that edge even if it costs us a little bit defensively.

honestly, it's been hard to watch for me.

I know it's early. I don't know players well and everything seems discombobulated. Hard to watch.
