Game Preview
Faith will always tested, all you can do is hope your patience and belief are worth the time, pain, effort. A really rough two game stretch against Big 12 opponents lead to embarrassing losses for Bucky and crew. We lost to Oklahoma State in a route, then we saw a huge lead disappear in embarrassing fashion against UCF at home. The Aggies will have a chance to bounce back tomorrow night at 7pm against the mighty Montana Grizzlies.
Bounce back we must. The Big Sky pre season favorites won't be no slouch. Although they lost 10 players from a tournament team last year, they return two key players, one being Money Williams. Williams averages over 20 points and nearly 6 assists. He is their offense. They don't have lots of size, but their forwards play hard and aggressive, especially Te'jon Sawyer.
I really want to see us take more pride near the rim. I want us to protect the rim with more effort. We all saw the missed layups and that's something we really need to pick up and improve. We can't run our offense, we can't shoot any 3's, we can't spread the floor if we can't score at the rim. I want to Federiko and Agee get the ball down low more or some pick and roll at the top of the key with our guards attacking the rim.
We'll see if Mgbako is set to play and how he adds life to the offense. We need more stability in the half court, we need to have someone that can get us a bucket when things aren't going our way. I hope we can lean on Mgbako, but we need other players to step up. Hopefully Isaacs can get into a better rhythm, Agee can get into the paint some more, Griffen, Lane, or Holloway can step up as well.
Montana isn't going to lay down, they're going to come in here, expecting and playing to win. We need to have some pride in the way we play. That's something that comes with time and chemistry, but coaching is a large part of it. We expect bumps in a first year coach with a thrown together roster. However, the intangibles need to show through. I want to see us hustling for rebounds, committing turnovers, defending hard. We can't afford a loss like this. Let's bounce back and take care of business at home.
