Starting this a day early because there's a few interesting things to talk about here. As everyone recalls, this thing was an absolute bloodbath last year with the SEC winning 14-2.
This year looks to be a little more competitive. But just a little.
Tuesday, December 2: (Torvik projection)
6 PM
Texas A&M (-2) at Pitt - ESPNU
(13) Tennessee (-4.5) at Syracuse - ESPN2 - Hard to overstate how big this game is for Syrcause. They're coming off three straight losses at the Players Era, which included a huge missed opportunity in an overtime game with Houston. Tennessee has been really good so far this season.
Virginia Tech at South Carolina (-2) - SECN - If South Carolina has any hope at the tournament (they don't) they probably have to have this game. Their non-con schedule absolutely sucks and they've already lost games against teams unlikely to make the tournament. They have one more big non-con game but it's at Clemson which is a huge ask. Torvik projects them as underdogs in every SEC game except their home game against State.
Oklahoma at Wake Forest (-4) - ACCN - Big couple of weeks for OU with this game, Arizona State on Saturday and then Oklahoma State on the 13th.
6:30 PM
(15) Florida at (4) Duke (-7) - ESPN
8:00 PM
Miami at Ole Miss (-2) - SECN
Georgia (-3) at Florida State - ACCN
Missouri (-1) at Notre Dame - ESPNU
(16) North Carolina at (18) Kentucky (-6) - ESPN
Wednesday, December 3
6:15 PM
(6) Louisville at (25) Arkansas - ESPN - would be more fun if this game were at Louisville. Huge game here for Arkansas.
Clemson at (12) Alabama (-9) - ESPNU
LSU (-4) at Boston College - ACCN - we're about to find out if LSU is any good. The numbers like them but they haven't played anyone of note yet and Boston College isn't really of note either except this is a true road game. After this they'll play Texas Tech and SMU.
8:15 PM
SMU at (17) Vanderbilt (-13) - SECN - SMU is in the middle of their own one-team SEC challenge. They beat Mississippi State Friday, and then following this game they play us on Sunday and then LSU next Saturday. This will be an interesting game to watch because the rankings have been a little slow on Vandy. They currently sit 6th in Torvik, 4th in the NET, and 10th in KenPom. This is a VERY good Vandy team and they play a little similarly to us.
NC State at (20) Auburn (-6) - ESPN - Auburn's scare against Bethune Cookman is in the rearview mirror and getting blown out by Michigan suddenly doesn't seem like that big of a deal.
Virginia at Texas (-3) - ESPNU - Texas is a little ahead of the projections at this point of the season and in a way I didn't really expect with their offense really carrying them so far. Big game for them here with another big one looming next week at UCONN.
Mississippi State at Georgia Tech - ACCN
Projected wins:
SEC: 12
ACC: 2
Toss ups: 2
