Pearl has MUCH more experience being around a major conference basketball program, but Bucky has literally coached hundreds if not thousands of basketball games, and that experience is valuable in those late game situations. Bucky's probably just about seen it all as to what can happen in the final few seconds of a basketball game. Pearl has been the man on the sideline for 15 games.
You think of every full court late game winner over the past 35 years...Tait/UConn, Drew/Valpo, Laettner/Duke, Edny/UCLA, Jenkins/Villanova. They ALL came off inbound plays. It's virtually impossible to get a good look in 3 seconds off a missed FT. Every one of those shots was a way better look than the Butler/Duke game.
