Should be cool to welcome those guys back. Incredible season, one of the most memorable sporting events of all time in the NCAA Tournament.

It's still kind of wild to me that we have three of those same assistants (counting Rich) back on the staff now.

I assume BK is going to be in the house. Gotta be kinda weird for him to see those guys over there.

Billy attends several games anyways so I'm certain he'll be there tomorrow. In fact, I walked past he and his wife in the concourse after last week's game. It has to be a bummer to have to exit with the masses when you'd grown accustomed to simply walking into the tunnel.
I always liked Billy and that '16 holds a lot of memories for me.

That was quite a roster. What I liked best about that team was there were no true superstars...no one you would think of for SEC player of the year, but they played so well together.

Do we still get to have the argument about which coach was more accomplished at A&M - Buzz or BK? I think the reunion of the conference championship/sweet 16 team kind of seals the deal.

"More accomplished" is the only phrasing you could use where it's BK. Whether he was a better coach or not, he did actually win an SEC Championship and make the second weekend of the tournament. The difficulty of winning that SEC Championship or what happened the other six years he was coach don't matter if that's what the argument is about.

But Buzz was still a better coach and it's not even close.

So many great memories from this team from my time as a student
- Confirmation that they could be for real after beating Texas and Gonzaga at Atlantis
- Drubbing Baylor at home and reminding Rico Gathers about his arrest for stealing a trash can
- Beating Ben Simmons and LSU at Reed with a ton of fire code violations due to the attendance
- Tyler Davis buzzer beater to beat Kentucky
- Clinching the SEC at home against Vandy, then running over to Olsen to see Bush 41 throw the first pitch
- Of course the magic in OKC

So glad we're bringing these guys back even if it's ironically against OU.

Many are still playing professional basketball - it was a very strong roster for A&M, best overall top to bottom?



DJ Hogg - Undrafted by NBA but still getting paid to be a professional basketball player in 2025 . All NBL second team 2023.

Admon Gilder - Undrafted by NBA but still getting paid to be a professional basketball player in 2025 .


Tonny Trocha-Morelos - Undrafted by NBA but still getting paid to be a professional basketball player in 2025 .

Jalen Jones - Undrafted by NBA but had looks from 3 different NBA teams, was close to making the league. Still getting paid to be a professional basketball player in 2025.

Alex Caruso - Undrafted by NBA but has played in the league each of the last 9 years. 2 time NBA Champion. First team all NBA defensive team. Second team All NBA Defensive team.

Danuel House Jr - Undrafted by NBA but has played in the league 8 of the last 9 years.

Tyler Davis - Undrafted by NBA but has played in the league (VERY briefly, but played. Still getting paid to be a professional basketball player as late as 2024.

Tavario Miller - Undrafted by NBA but still getting paid to be a professional basketball player in 2025 .

Hogg was such a letdown. So much talent and such average production. Still love him, but expected so much more.

Davis not sticking around for senior year was crazy to me. Could have made all the difference that following season.

I've met quite a few coaches over the years from A&M and Billy Kennedy was definitely one of, if not the most, likable of them. Great guy to be around.

Buzz Williams is also by far the more accomplished coach overall, you still have to limit it to only Texas A&M accomplishments

It might be interesting to see what kind of roster Kennedy would put together under todays rules. Tyler Davis certainly would have played another year. Im not certain the ceiling would be much higher than 2016

I doubt it. OKC played in Memphis tonight and plays at home on Sunday. Would be a lot for him to get to B/CS late tonight, fly to OKC after the A&M game, then play on Sunday.

Billy came in late after Turd screwed us and jumped to a basketball school late in the cycle. Then Billy got diagnosed which clearly affected him. He hired good assistants but that's a huge part of a head coaches job. Buzz hired crappy assistants and then was way too loyal to them. I liked Buzz but I don't think either was clearly better all things considered.

No he was clearly better. BK had an amazing season, many crap ones and a disappointing one. Buzz was mid in the tourney and good in the meaningless sec tourney. BK was pretty good until the sweet 16 and then embarrassingly outmatched.

Unless I missed it they didn't show highlights of that season. You know like the UNI game. I thought it was very weird, not to the level of Taylor banner weird, but just a little weird

It was fine. Doing it right at the beginning of halftime was an odd choice since that's when everyone gets up to hit the restroom/concessions.

Also think the video could have used a little work. Some context might have helped students/recent graduates remember it more. It's our only conference championship since the Soviet Union still existed, they didn't explain the UNI comeback, etc.
