My elderly father is planning to take his grandkids to game today.
Are the ticket windows still open to walk up and buy tickets?
Technology and buying tickets on his phone is not in his wheelhouse
TIA

Sorry for the lame Nathan Walkup reply. Also, i don't have helpful information, but will help bump this to the top.

Pathetic. 2-0 in conference play. First year HC. Is Trev charging students to park in the west campus garage or something? What else is going on in BCS on a Saturday? Trev needs to facilitate getting Reed filled for all conference games.

I cannot figure out why we cannot market to BCS better. Signage, "conference game tonight!"

Advertising, marketing, etc. Shouldn't be hard to fill Reed.

It will happen we just aren't used having a product that is fun to watch and a coach who really wants to be here. Look at Auburn as the model.

9099 sold for UCF, so you are WAY off.

what did you expect, they took away about half of the parking, H lot and Olsen lot are pretty much all gone now. Frankly i'm not sure parking at Kyle Field isn't the best option if you want to get out in a hurry.

There was also a lot of people parked earlier in the day for some kind of track event that was taking up a bunch of the Reed spots.

You have to make it easier to get into the game. Have free parking and/or shuttles to the game. Billboards around town. Local commercials. Reed Rowdies with sheet signs at major intersections.

I think the parking part is crucial. Don't charge, especially students, to park. The shuttle idea could help. How much of the massive parking lots around Reed aren't full during each game?

Those are the days that dreams are made of.

At least baseball is out of town the day of the Texas game.

students don't have pay to park if they have valid parking pass. At one point the lots filled up and they turned people to the greenhouse parking lot or Bush parking lot.

our fanbase expect to show up 10 minutes prior to tip and then park 1 row from an entrance into Reed.

I don't blame people for this too much because usually they can, but again, it's just another thing that makes the experience rough. There needs to be some kind of express parking lane for people who have already paid or have on-campus permits or something.

you can when we play PV on Wed night after Xmas. But you're not doing that on a Saturday afternoon for conference game.

Again our fanbase doesn't pay attention to anything, if they start closing down lanes for prepaid or permits that'll make things 1000x worse.

Saturday on Penberthy, the outside lane going north got backed up because some wanted to park at the tennis courts. They need to completely control all flow of traffic and not allow and have lanes blocked off to certain entrances. Everyone tried to fill up the SW part and N part of Reed while the other 2 parts where not that full.

Again they won't do it, but they need a football traffic control plan.

They have taken away parking on the perimeter of Reed so that now only concentrates more trying to park at Reed. They need to encourage more parking at Bush library and Kyle Field. Make it free lots. Run shuttles from Bush. KF you can walk

and they won't do much because nobody will want to pay for it

Yeah you'd have to do it in some kind of way that doesn't disrupt what people are used to, but they have the license plate scanning technology, let's use that as people are driving up.

For example, traffic backs up on all of those long entrances to the Reed lots, they could be scanning cars as they're waiting and go ahead and just wave those cars by when they get to the front or something.

It's not a huge deal for any one interaction, but when 5,000 cars are having to show their phone to the person, adjust their brightness because it's not scanning, trying to fight the right distance to hold it properly, etc. that all adds up.

they need to direct more traffic into lot 74 (meats lab parking) and 97 (greenhouse parking)

Parking needs to be fixed and I believe shuttles from somewhere like the Bush school would help tremendously.

Also, I would love to see some kind of catered food at Reed arena before the game. Yesterday for example, if we had a decent option inside Reed to eat at a less than $30 per person rate and I can sit down and eat, I would do it.

Same for most weeknight games. Let's make it a communal event where people can show up 1.5 hours early and eat there at Reed somewhere nicer than bad/expensive food in my lap.

It would take a massive marketing effort to get anyone to get on a shuttle for a basketball game I think.

And I've said before they need to turn the old softball stadium into a beer garden or something. Give people a reason to show up early to west campus sporting events. Put some TVs up, have beer and bar food that isn't quite inside-the-arena prices, etc.

When the weather is bad I sometimes hit up the bar at the A&M hotel before games and that beer garden/patio at Brookshire Bros isn't too far either, but something right by the arena would be awesome. Could open it on football gamedays, baseball games, etc.

they're not going away from levy, they signed the deal and will not do anything that provides for an alternative to levy. My guess the contract prevents them from doing that if I had to guess.

the solution to parking is to encourage people to not park at Reed. I don't know how you do that without it costing somebody (either PTTS or the AD) money or less revenue

OBVIOUSLY I was joking, but I did want to point out UCF somehow had higher ticket sales than our SEC games so far.

We are way behind the attendance pace from last year, parking must be slightly better?

Make Reed Parking $10 and all other lots $5.

Or just roll the parking cost into the ticket cost as a line item and make parking "free" (you could still have fancy VIP parking for more money). I'm sure there's some antiquated bureaucratic or technical reason that's impossible, but it's such an obvious way to speed up entry to the arena.

The data has to be there on basically how many tickets equates to how many cars. This isn't football where 20,000 people are coming to campus to drink and party with no intention of going to the game.

my guess is PTTS handles parking, not the AD. So that mean the AD would have to collect the money then pay PTTS. That's probable more cooperation than they want. A&M doesn't function very well. Trev has hinted about that more than once.
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Yeah I think that's definitely the case, which is why it would have to be like a line item thing with the numbers very explicitly laid out.

But yeah, knowing A&M, the parking folks don't trust the athletic department not to just flat out lie about the numbers and shortchange them.

Great idea.

Will never happen. I have no idea why, but confident it just won't Probably makes too much sense and too much money for anyone to be interested.

levy is why, they control the market. The University got money up front, in return Levy controls all concessions in and around athletics. I think on very rare occasions they'll let food trucks come in, but i think that's only if levy isn't serving. I think they did this last year for exhibition softball and baseball
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I mean they could serve Levy products in there too. It doesn't have to be like an independent restaurant.

Basically a blown up version of that little fan zone tent they have right now or that area they have on the west side of Kyle Field. Put some games around for the kids, TVs up for people to watch ball, etc.
BQ_90

its all possible, but any expectation for levy to do anything different is just wishful thinking. We're talking about the same people that can't sell cold water.

now here is something that could be a game changer; when the Alpine building is done, it's supposed to have large hospitality area, so that is area you could come early and go hang out
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Yeah I've been holding out hope for that too.
