The problem is you just don't know what's going to happen at the end of the game and you need to hold timeouts as long as you can.
Could be a loose ball on the floor and you need to call one to keep possession, need one to set up a long inbounds pass (this is why Auburn using one in the middle of Isaacs' free throws was so bad by Pearl), might need to challenge an out-of-bounds call, who knows.
They're just SO precious at the ends of games that I think Bucky is really hesitant to use one during the flow of the game unless we absolutely have to.
Again, so you hold all four until the very end and have three unused timeouts you can put under your pillow for the Timeout Ferry to come and exchange for …..;whereas, maybe you use one when the opposition has either clawed back half way thru a 10-12 point Aggie lead to stop momentum. Maybe you call a timeout when the opposition is on a six to eight point run.
Project Management tells me me you ought to at least allocate one timeout to the first halfyou may not need it. But they are to use to stop runs/momentum of the opposition. Not saying you have to use it, but it's there just in case you need it.
Basketball, especially Bucky Ball is a game of runs…. However, you want to be the one on the run.
Homework assignment, let's in the game the Agz play which opposing coach utilizes this strategy because the Agz are a streaky team. Please just take this as friendly banter.
