Okay let's drink some kool-aid and find some paths to victory here. I can see three, in order of likelihood:

1) We just go nuclear from beyond the arc: This is obviously the wild card that any college basketball team can cling to, but we have multiple shooters can go off. Knowing Barnes they're probably going to tackle Dominguez into the bench as soon as he crosses half court and hold him everywhere which won't be called until one time very late when we're down by 15 just to piss me off, but Griffen and Isaacs are both shooting at a good clip and it would be a good game for Hill to have a hot night.

2) 50,000 fouls: This one won't happen on their court, but they're a terrible free throw shooting team and we're a pretty good one as long as its not Hill or Vinson or especially Federiko shooting them. Everyone else with a decent sample size shoots at at least a 75% clip.

3) Unusual success driving the ball: Maybe we can use Tennessee's length against them on the offensive end and drive the ball with some success. Assuming they have Gillispie guard Lane then Marcus Hill should have a larger defender on him so maybe he can take advantage and get downhill and open some things up. There should be some space down there because they'll have to commit someone to guarding Dominguez all the time. Lane and Isaacs are probably going to need to take some riskier shots down there than they normally would.

If this game is played 10,000 times I think in at least 7,500 of them they absolutely kill us on the glass on both ends, outscore us like 40-10 in second chance points and win fairly-to-extremely convincingly.

But like the Little Giants, we just need one time.

Yeah another path to victory is if our anti-Voltron of Federiko, Vinson and Clemence decide to have some kind of one shining moment together but right now it feels more likely that Barnes would forfeit the game because he's upset about the results of the Golden Globes than all three of those guys having a good game in the same game.

I'd rest the starters. Let Holloway shoot fifty times.

But these two (anti-voltron shining moment and Barnes forfeit) are more likely than no. 2 or 3.

I dunno, it's definitely a long shot but there are some crews running around calling a ton of fouls. Like our game against Ole Miss last year or Alabama/Vandy last week.

Yeah but each time you bring up that point, you add another 10,000 fouls that we need called.

Haven't watched much of Tennessee this year but Saturday against Florida they played through their bigs a lot offensively, I'm hoping we'll be able to speed them up with the press and that they'll turn the ball over quite a bit and more importantly take bad shots in transition before they're even ready to offensive rebound

Who hasn't had a coming out party yet? Holloway?

That's the guy. 42 points from him.

Shooting at a high % from 3 and winning the turnover battle by a pretty fair margin is the best and maybe only path to winning imo. A whistle happy officiating crew and them getting in foul trouble really early would be more than a little helpful as well.

For any of that to happen we absolutely have to speed them up to a pace they aren't comfortable with.

I don't know. All bets are off with Bucky Ball. If we make some buckets, set up some good presses, and rattle them, anything can happen.

Only way I think it won't be close is if Tennessee shoots at a ridiculous clip or if we have to go against them in a slowed half court set defensively or even offensively. It's tough to slow us down for very long.

I believe!

I think no one's knows with the Aggies. New coach and players presents a complete wild card. We could find a ceiling by playing some of the better teams like Tennessee but we could also have another Auburn type win. I really don't know what to expect. Many of our players and our style of play seem to be better than expected. I'm ready to drink the koolaid but cautiously optimistic still.

On Torvik, they're 256th on Offensive TO %. We're 20th on Defensive TO %. They're 208th in tempo, we're 14th in tempo. So outside of (or in addition to) shooting lights out from 3, pushing the pace and wreaking havoc on their bigs with turnovers seems to be the main path to victory.

But I think it's unlikely we'll be able to significantly control the pace in this one. In reality, I think this is one of those games "we knew there would be some games this year where we get absolutely blown out".

You know Oklahoma slowed things down and we pretty much had to play at their pace. We were able to win but that is not our formula. Tenn will do the same.
