And you just assume we won't try to hold on to him?? Guess what. We want all of our coaches to be wanted because that means they are winning here

Why do you guys have to do that? He can go to Maryland and be a loser like two previous coaches or he can stay here and build something.

We need some bigger bodies.
Bucky Ball with a team that has more size and length without compromising athleticism could really do some things.

I totally believe in this guy. I'm in.
I resolve in 2026 to be more tolerant and respectful of trolls and emotionally fragile, overly pessimistic posters so they don’t run crying to the mods and have me banned for three days.

Because they are glass half empty guys.

Damn, I'm not that upset, it was tough hard nosed game. First time where our weaknesses really showed in our lack of size. Rebound and make FTs and we win the game

Need another Agee type body. Zach is getting better, but his rim protection ends up with a foul.

Vinson isn't there yet. Fedi is.....we'll, not the answer.

Amazing to have Tennessee on the ropes most of the game. I thought we looked tired in overtime.

Tremendous effort. The single best sign for any coach is the effort of the players. Note how the Tide quit against IU in football. Not a good sign. We played really hard. Just got crushed on the board by a much bigger team.

Agree, absolutely nothing to feel ashamed of from that game. They fought hard and almost won.

Definitely more enjoyable for me vs Buzzball.

Rebounding is frustrating, but attribute due to lack of length and hopefully he can recruit that in the future (we have some length on the bench, but missing grit to get it done or a liability if on the floor). Also think not having our best player is having an effect.

Missing FTs at crucial times is a little concerning as Buckyball relies on good shooting and should translate into better FT shooting when it matters (as mentioned by many, game could have been won if FTs made at end of the game). Weird thing in BBall is how a player can make shots under pressure but can miss a FT under a different type of pressure (yes fg% is always lower than FT% regardless and different scenario, but still ).

Do wonder once opposing teams get to face buckyball over time, do they control it or get adjusted to it better (Tenn did much better in 2nd half to the pressure)? Will be interesting when we play teams a 2nd time and next year if the helter skelter style isn't an issue for them to defeat (although if constant new players on a team not yet exposed to it yet).

What we did last night was all coaching and grit. We battled with a 6-7 center and two guards 6 foot or less and 6-5 Spaniard and a 6-3 G/F.
I love that he's pissed we could've and should've won that game. Still so fun to watch!
Federiko I'm sorry is just bad he can't block out a 6-7 guy yet hill is boxing out a 6-10 guy.
We at least get to play Florida in CS but that's gonna be a tough matchup for us.

Watching these games and Bucky - it's remarkable to imagine him bouncing around on the sidelines during an AAU game.

Just imagine if we had Payne.

We basically have one big guy who's effective at all. He can't play center and forward. He's basically a power forward playing center.

We've got to get one of the other guys up to speed quickly.

Heck, even having Solomon Washington would be a lot better.

Tennessee has six guys who are 6'8" or taller.

It was like a freshman team playing a varsity team in terms of height.

On paper you'd think Payne, but I think Washington would be more valuable in this system as he is a great athlete long explosive and great leaper. He could play many roles but a better athlete than Agee. Payne I'm not sure is made for this game but he'd help in the half court game.

Payne is elite enough of a college center that I don't think style and fit really matter. He would help massively

I'm assuming this is just speculation? Given the struggleBuzz that Maryland's riding right now?
Or do you actually know him?

I knew him a little bit. I haven't talked to him since he left a&M. But he was loyal to buzz to a degree but he also assumed the maryland would be better than a&M this year.
I was guessing maryland would have been better too. You never know how things are going to go in life.

He can come back if he'd like. Really stupid to follow a guy that took forever to know you were actually the best player.

Well you had the court case and the portal closing; so options got limited. So Buzz's players might of had 2 options, stay or go with Buzz since so many players had already gone to new homes in the portal.

This is interesting, because I think a dynamic is forming that we haven't seen here before. These coaches seem to be collectively building something and are more engaged/supportive of each other than I every remember. Almost all of them openly talk about the culture among the coaches and the support they get/give each other. Not saying that keeps all of them, but they seem to find value in it.

It is starting to feel that way. Outside of Sumlin's first year (thanks to Johnny) I haven't seen a coach in men's sports have as much initial success as Bucky has. Especially since he was hired late and only had one guy on the roster when he was hired

With how he is involved with A&M as a whole and the direction he has A&M bball going, this seems like a guy you overpay to keep if some of the more established bball schools come a knockin.

If I was worth over $100 million and not just $30 million I would invest heavily in him.

Said this before but there's two sides to this. He doesn't inherit anyone, but he's not stuck with anyone either.

I'm sure if BCG could have cut half the team and then signed anyone he wanted out of the transfer portal we would have and we'd have been even better even quicker than we were.
