I'd actually prefer no out-of-bounds reviews at all to having them with the current rules because the situation I'm describing is what would usually win out. I'm holding the ball, you swipe it and knock it out my hands and it goes out of bounds, 99% of the time that ball is going back to me. It's only with replay we see how often the offensive player still has a finger on it after the defensive player has hit it.

All this ignores my least favorite example of when the defender fouls the player with possession of the ball with a nice slap across the wrist. The ball then goes out of bounds. The referee decides not to call a foul because, hell they get to keep the ball anyway.

But... crap, now there is a review and we watch helplessly as the ball goes to the other team because it last touched the offensive player.

Yes that's also incredibly stupid. If the foul is obvious on replay let's go ahead and call the foul.

The local sports radio guys (Knoxville) were even noting how they got that call wrong.

It doesn't matter the sport. I am tried of the cop out of it has to be conclusive to overturn. That is not applied universally. Most of the time, they look at the replay and make the call exclusively based upon that footage Then you get what happen in the Tenn game. It was 99% that it was off Tenn. We are sticking with the quick judgement of the ref with one angle over the slow motion replay from 4 angles.

I agree with you in cases like the other night, but what if a guy swipes at the ball and it clearly bounces off the knee/foot of the ball handler?

What I really don't like about replay is why the original call matters. If after review, it's still not sure who the ball is/was out on, then just go to the possession arrow.

Similar to other sports, the call on the field should have no bearing on the outcome after video replay.

This x 2 million!!!!!!

I absolutely HATE that the original call has any bearing on the replay result

Just look at the replay and call it the way that you would think to call it if all you saw was the replay

There are so many reviews, at least in football, where the replay shows that it is probably one way but since it isn't 100% conclusive the call on the field stands, and the call on the field has it going the other way

In reality if you asked 100 people who never knew what the call on the field was to watch the replay, the vast majority of them would likely call it the way it wasn't called on the field
