I suspect we may be getting ahead of ourselves. Afterall, that's our right as fans! But, as others have probably already suggested, there are some similarities between Cignetti at Indiana and Bucky here. Came from a smaller school, got overlooked by bluebloods in the hiring cycle, etc. Will be fun to watch.

Cig was on Saban's staff.

I would love to have been a fly on the wall when Bucky interviewed with Trev Alberts for job and how he sold our AD on his vision for this program, it was a ballsy hire by Trev who apparently has good gut-level instincts about the type of coaches we need to be successsful. I still don't understand how Bucky sold himself and his vision to the quality portal players (and assistant coaches) he found and convinced to come here given his lack of big time coahcing experience, but he did!!!

We may. However, this is Cignetti's second year and he came from the Saban Coaching tree. He's been coaching in the college ranks since 1985 (GA 1983-84)--40 years.

Bucky is doing this in his first year at TAMU and came from the Alabama weeds (college experience Samford four (4) years); no "KNOWN" coaching tree. He went from high school (fourteen years) to Samford (four (4) years)--THAT'S IT.

Again, we/he may be out over our ski's a bit. But boy, what a damn view we have from here.

He's changing the game. There are going to be more coaches go to his brand of basketball moving forward.

Few of the best things about Bucky are that he's not stubborn to a fault like we get from a lot of coaches, and he's always wanting to learn more.
