Like everyone else, I was thrilled with the game last night and also enjoyed Bucky's post game press conference. Lots of good "xs and os" discussion. But, I was most impressed with the comments he made towards the end (around the 9:30 mark) when asked about fan involvement. His answer was telling in speaking about how college and watching basketball should be "fun" and then emphasizing the "joy" you can take away from watching a game. Bucky seems to really "get it," which is refreshing!

They made it sound like Reed was packed. I've been on nights the past two weeks so haven't been able to watch. I've just had to listen on the radio. How does attendance look on tv? Are we actually showing up now?

Students had a pretty good turnout. For everybody else it was about as good as you can expect for a Wednesday night at 8:00.

As I keep telling a good Ag friend…we are first and foremost a program that can get 41000 students to a football game, next we are a baseball school…Aggie baseball has always been the second most popular sport at A&M.

MBB still a distant third but Bucky seems happy to have accepted the challenge to change that!

We have good friends from Birmingham, the dad went to Samford and back in 2019-2020, he wanted to introduce my younger son to the Samford coach at the time. He wanted to go to A&M instead of play basketball somewhere.

As a dad I had to remind him this morning that he could have played for Bucky. Always be guilting them.

When I glance at other games on TV you rarely see a "packed" arena unless it's a rivalry game or one of the blue-blood bball schools. Reed doesn't look any worse than most at this point of the season.
I resolve in 2026 to be more tolerant and respectful of trolls and emotionally fragile, overly pessimistic posters so they don’t run crying to the mods and have me banned for three days.

The most overrated thing on TexAgs is how many people show up to baseball games, especially students. We probably had more students at last night's basketball game than we've ever had at a baseball game. And even last night's basketball attendance had 1,000 more fans than any baseball game in the history of Olsen Field.

You can blame that on the capacity of Olsen Field maybe but the numbers are still the numbers.

Now we need to build tradition. Where have all of our traditional chants and basketball specific fan stuff gone!? We had a good culture for a while.

I noticed Coach went to say thank you to the student section and gave them a thumbs up after the game.

They need to assemble a committee to get some new stuff going.

There's some good opportunities for new and unique stuff with the way we play.

There should be some kind of something, even if it's just jumping up and down and yelling "aaaaaa" for when we hit a three pointer that doesn't stop until the other team crosses half court again.

This guy is really awesome. He's a great coach, but he really seems to be a better person. I watched a game early in the year, and it was pretty rough. Don't have really high expectations for the team of Bucky. Just kind lost interest. But I have been watching them since conference started and to see the growth is amazing.

Baseball is dwindling nationwide. Men's bball is way more fun as a student than a baseball game.

It also helps not having an awful coach that ruins an inherited roster of top talent.

Bucky has this kinda low key "awe shucks" vibe that I think is a great fit for Aggie Basketball. Don't take things too seriously. I love what he said: College is supposed to be fun! We want everyone to have a blast.

So far so good! If he can keep delivering, the fanbase is going to show up in a big way.

As a casual basketball fan I agree he has a sense of awe shucks. But I see something else. He makes it look easy. And at the same time makes it look like he is having fun doing it. To me that speaks volumes about his character and personality. It's a trait I personally love in leaders. You can see from the results that the team is working their butts off. They're learning and growing. But he is enjoying it and passing that on. Just like at work I still have to do all the hard things. But when we can have fun doing it. That to me is special.

This is about as uninformed a take as could be. College baseball is better and more popular than ever with NIL, scholarship changes, and a smaller MLB draft resulting in more elite players going to and staying in college.

It's okay to like basketball (though it is a far inferior game), but you don't have to make inaccurate statements about other sports to prop up the one you prefer.

They need a couple of people at the TMF who part of their job is to facilitate the transfer of tickets from wealthy donors with good seats to " Good Ags " in need of tickets

Lots of BMA's would rather see the tickets go to waste than go through the minor hassle of listing and transferring them on the ticket exchange

Baseball is the only collegiate sport that the product has improved with NIL

The blame should be placed on the yell leaders first. Students second.

It's the yell leaders who are supposed to start those offensive chants. It's my assumption yell leaders of old transfer their knowledge to the next group.

Maybe the Covid year put an end to the chants. Maybe it was inept Gillespie years that sucked the life out of the arena.

I have not been to a game in a long time, because the atmosphere was so lackluster the last time I went.

Last time I checked they don't read the Batt and yell boring while the other team is being announced. That was always a highlight of the experience.

I think you mean the Kennedy years.

I think Covid may have been when it died.

Bob, do you have contact with the yell leaders? I'll pitch in some food money if you can take a few to dinner and pitch the boards ideas.

Not only do they still read The Batt, The Batt actually prints special edition yell cards that read "BTHO [opponent] that are given to the entire student section
