Bucky spouted the stat of being only one of 2 SEC teams to have never made an Elite Eight in his opening press conference if I remember correctly.

Rick Barnes has had statue-worthy-at-A&M careers at two different schools now and you could probably argue that a third (Clemson) would have him considered the best coach in A&M history. Hell, his run at Providence is basically what Buzz did here.

Yeah. Browsing annual results in Wiki is amazing. He started his HC career when I was still at A&M. 38 years. 9 years not in the NCAA (including Covid year). 10 years S16 or better (more than not in). It's odd that he hasn't had one of those teams go on a heater. The lack of an NC is the only real knock.

I've wanted him to get one. Just absolutely incredible career. Don't think this team is the one though it would be funny if the one to finally do it isn't one of his best regular season teams.

Agree. Will likely be a mid seed though this year so will be tough.

I am curious what these numbers look like if you start with the BCG era. This is obviously cherry picking our era of most sustained success, but my perception is we have been a top 25-50 program in that era.

I used to laugh at the game notes of how one sided our history was against most teams. We're still like 10-30 all time against Oklahoma.

Suppose I was slow on the uptake but I initially thought the list was a ranking versus arranged alphabetically. If you rank the teams by NCAA appearances, we're 10/16 with Kentucky at the top by a wide margin and Ole Miss and USC tied at the bottom. I'm not celebrating but it's not as bad as I thought it might have been.
