I thought out of the gate, we played SCARED--we played with hesitation, we didn't immediately take the shot when we were open like we've done all season long--we passed when we'd normally knock down the three.
When a smaller player plays like that, it gives the taller player a chance to get into position and defend. Further, we did this and compounded it with a HUGE dry spell (i.e., in past games we could shoot our way out of a dry spell). This one, not so much. I think we questioned our PROCESS AND PROCEDURES. We can't do that.
WE'VE BEEN PLAYING WITH BIG BALLS ALL SEASON LONG--WE LEFT OUR BALLS IN THE LOCKER ROOM. This maybe too soon, but it seems as though after the bama loss, we've questioned ourselves--are we good? did we just beat bad teams to get to 7-2? did we read some of the headlines of articles questioning our ability and worthiness of our record?
Bottom-line, do we believe in Bucky Ball or not?? This is the question that needs to be answered before our next game.
We lost to bama--so what. In the bama game we very easily coulda/shoulda won if we made a free throw or two, a layup or two and/or a shot or two. We didn't. So we lost--SO F-ING WHAT!!!! That wasn't our first lose. We ARE going to lose another game or two (maybe more) this season. SO F-ING WHAT!!!!
We only GREW OUR BALLS after half time and the game was pretty much out of reach. Our first half performance and mental/physical attitude against florida, was totally opposite as to how we've been playing up to the bama game. We lost--SO F-ING WHAT!!!!
We know we're the SHORT, LITTLE B@$T@RD on the court and if we don't hustle, play hard, throw our elbows around and knock a knut or two around, and take and make our shots, we will have more games like florida. It was humbling and humiliating. Some teams need this. florida has lost games too.
But you can learn from this. Do we believe in Bucky Ball or not?????
