Dr. Metcalf might have an argument. No doubt BCG was great for a short while with us but Shelby accomplished so much over such a longer period:

The winningest coach in SWC history with a 239-158 SWC record, Metcalf coached SWC Championship teams in 1964, '69, '75, '76, '80 & '86. He coached a record 27 seasons at A&M. Metcalf coached 15 Consensus All-SWC Players with 18 players drafted by the NBA. His 1980 team made it to the Final 16 Round before losing to the National Champion Lewisville. In 1989, Coach Metcalf was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.

Certainly never won a national title but for the basketball situation at A&M (so much more of a one-sport football school than now), Shelby accomplished miracles. That and his humor was truly legendary.

It's not that he's not deserving. Wade is an all time Aggie great. To me he's on a tier with Joe jones, Caruso, Sloan, and guys like that. Acie stands alone above, but just my opinion.
