Game Preview
Season finale… 10 conference wins, 20 overall wins, on the right side of the bubble, one last game. A win and it's pretty much time to polish off our nicest pear of leather shoes and get to dancing.
What a season this has been. What feels like both just yesterday and eons ago, Bucky Ball made its debut in Reed Arena. Three's were flying, Aggies were pressing, basketball was fun. As most seasons go it has its highs and lows. We saw record offenses, we saw some rough non conference losses, we saw a near perfect start to conference play, we endured a 4 game skid, we lost to them orange losers at home, but as their backs were against the wall, postseason hopes on the line, the Aggies found their groove again and found the fun in basketball as they used a 40-10 turnaround to take down Kentucky and get this ship back on course.
At 5pm the Aggies are on the road in Baton Rouge to cap off the first regular season of the Bucky McMillan era in College Station. What a debut it's been for the former high school and So-Con coach. We can make this an emotional, look how far we've come, look how we've beat the odds type story. But we can save the sentimental talk for later. We got one more game and many more to follow.
A win tonight pretty much guarantees our name being called on selection Sunday, which is 8 days from now. Right now LSU stands in the way. LSU is having yet another rough year as their coach is on the hottest of hot seats. They are 3-14 headed into their senior night. Their best player has been hurt all year. Despite some strong showings, they just haven't been able to put together many wins. Hopefully they're unable to do so once more.
The Aggies started their 2026 SEC regular season against the Tigers in a turnover filled game where the Aggies just struggled to put LSU away, even surrendering a lead late. This is a team that doesn't rebound well so I want to see us exert our physicality inside. I expect Agee to lead the way in scoring. However, there's plenty of Ags who can take over a game. In March, you can't rely on one person to carry the burden. The Ags have seen different players step up on different nights whether it's Agee, Griffen, Clemence, Dominguez, Hill, Pop, the Aggies have depth and weapons. The thing I found the most exciting on Tuesday was seeing guys like Dominguez or Pop play with a lost more confidence and swagger. These guys may have just found their groove again, so LSU and the ncaa field better watch it.
Just one more game stands between this squad and the postseason. Let's go into Baton Rouge and take another road W. The SEC standings are jumbled up in the middle, a win clears it up but the Aggies can land anywhere from 5 to 8 just with a win. But we'll deal with the postseason about 7pm. First let's BTHO lsu so we can get to dancing my friends!!
