I thought the decision to tighten the rotation with 5 min to go in regulation and almost not sub through OT was going to bite us. Putting Ruben and Hill into the game in 2Ot was a savior.

I totally agree. Bucky got away from one of the core tenets of our program. Almost cost us.

I think coach got scared after taking Agee out and things quickly felt like they could collapse any second.. bench for a&m was tight thereafter ..

Agee's one thing. He's a tough call because we just don't have a substitute for him. Everyone else though should have been getting some rotation to stay somewhat fresh.

Pop needed to stay put as well.

Isaac's been playing well of late, but we've got guys that can spell him. I'm OK having Lane or Holloway on the court to give him a short break and keep him fresh.

I know Lane has fallen out of favor, but he was one of our most reliable guys for almost two thirds of the season.

A&M loses that game if you substitute like normal. Possessions are more important in the last few minutes and OT.

I don't know if it's a practice effort thing or what the whole deal is but it's pretty wild how quickly we've become ride or die with Isaacs. But he was very good again yesterday. 45 minutes with one turnover is crazy stuff.

I also think his rebounding is a big part of it. Doesn't get talked about much but Isaacs is a really good rebounder, especially compared to Lane and Holloway.

I think that's how most teams work, but not this one. We have the benefit of having very little drop off among the first 9 guys (Agee, pop, griffen, clemence, dibba, ruben, hill, lane, Holloway). We almost lost because we didn't sub. It took till the last minute of 2OT for Bucky to come to and put in hill and ruben. That was the difference when he did.

Hind sight is 20/20. I have no problem with him not thinking it was gonna go 3 OTs.

Ruben and Hill did not play good in regulation. I totally get why Bucky did what he did.

Ha, true. Now, to be fair, I was yelling at the tv real time to sub (it didn't work). But agreed, the hindsight of it working makes it a more interesting discussion.

I do think Bucky, for how modern a coach is, is still kind of old school at the ends of games. He's gonna ride or die with our best guys on the court.

Lane and Holloway spelling him both led to worse offensive flow, more turnovers, and far worse defense. Unfortunately, Isaac's was the only ball handler remotely competitive yesterday. And thank god he was.

Pop's jersey was a completely different color from all the sweat. Dude gave everything for the team yesterday.

He is ultracompetitive. Get's outside of himself from time to time but that has been much less frequent down the stretch of the season

Is that old school? I just thought that's what you're supposed to do.

Not sure you can really reach that conclusion re: Lane since he was only on the court for about 3 mins and didn't have a turnover. Pop's been playing great, not arguing that he shouldn't be getting the major minutes, only that when he's been on the court for 20 straight mins we benefit from the fresh legs and getting Pop 2 or 3 possessions to catch his breath mentally and physically. Particularly at the pace we play.

Pop's critical as a rebounder, but Holloway and Lane are both better on-ball perimeter defenders, so they do bring something to the table.

We gave quite a few possessions away in extras by playing guys who were clearly gassed to the point of being nonfunctional. I don't see how you can make that argument in this situation.

Easily. I've seen the other players play most of the season.
