Pay the man. Best coach we've ever had.

Like ever.

Pay him. Whatever he wants.

Or just fill the arena. And build him a better venue.
I resolve in 2026 to be more tolerant and respectful of trolls and emotionally fragile, overly pessimistic posters so they don’t run crying to the mods and have me banned for three days.

Why not all three? The arena redo has been needed since Reed opened (it's a hole despite many great memories). Filling it hasn't happened consistently since the end of BCG/end of Turge. And he's paid like the team was preseason picked… I'm all for prove it another year but it'll be more expensive of an extension when he does.

I like what Bucky McMillan has done, but there should be no contract extension until after 2 or 3 years because Bucky McMillan's contract is 5 years.

I bet Bucky would prefer more NIL dollars than more pay.

We can't pay the biggest buyout in college basketball history if we don't overreact to a good but not amazing first season. 9 years fully guaranteed. Do it.

Making the tournament is a success at A&M.

Winning a game in year one? Lock him down.

This idea that Bucky is some bumpkin that NEEDS to live in that garbage state of Alabama is one of the strangest things on Texags.

This is an NBA coach with unlimited ambition who reads and sees the game in a pro way. Don't get too caught up in specific schemes year to year. This is a man who will make whatever adjustments and schematic changes needed to win.

To get to the NBA, he HAS to win here. Give him the support roster wise; NOT a new contract.

If you showed me the naked female equivalent of how Bucky is doing and I may have proposed that fast too.

whether it is after this season or next i thibk bucky is goijg to prove he is our present and futur coach and we would be wise to lock him up long term. i am cool with is waiting another year but personally i am sold. he reminds me of bruce pearl. a coach that can recruit, has a greats style basketball he can coach, and a personality he can connect with fans and he wants to.

No new contract until he wins the SEC championship back to back (regular season or tournament), or he makes the final four. Otherwise, let the contract expire and consider rehiring him.

I don't know what his contract is but, if it reflects the fact that he was hired from a smaller program and had limited years coaching college bball (in other words lower rung of SEC coaches) then he should get a contract that reflects what he's done in his first year. He's already reached the apex of Turgeon and Buzz. And I hope in another year or two he's getting another one because we've gone to the final four.

Always fun to see big time donors opine.

I understand your reasoning; HOWEVER, how much is his buyout??? Is it easy to buy him out??

I can almost guarantee people are taking notice.

He brought this system in being the last big school hire.

He didn't have a roster to start with....

He hasn't had a full year to recruit to, by showing he's successful with this strategy...

Seeing the upbeat play, if I'm young and talented, sitting the bench somewhere else, playing for Bucky is the place I want to go because you'll only be able to play for 4-6 minutes at a time because you're ballin' out the whole time and you need a blow; however, if you can do that and still get shots for 15-20 points, why not come here.

After two years, with a full year of recruiting after this first NCAA run, why wouldn't I (big name school) come after Bucky if the buyout is really low.

There are two ways to look at it, is he worth renegotiating now (or maybe midyear next year) where you (TAMU) establish the market (i.e., maybe at a little higher than market value initially). If he's really good, then in 4-6 years you've established a very good team/culture, along with (hopefully) some loyalty. Again, look what he's done so far--PRETTY DAMN GOOD.

Easy way for a person to show how much smarter they are is to write a check.
