I mean it's not exactly good sportsmanship or anything... But we controlled the entire game and really took their lunch money as a bit of an underdog.

All the more reason to curb your trashy behavior. If roles were reversed, so many of you would be calling that trash-talking MoFo a ghetto something or other for doing what he did and wishing we would've waylaid him instead of just pulling his shirt.

Amazing what lack of perspective breeds.

Did Muraskas come off the bench?

Key Ramifications:
  • Mandatory Ejection: Any player who leaves the bench area and enters the court during a fight is immediately ejected.
  • Automatic Suspension: The player is suspended for the next scheduled game, with repeat offenses leading to harsher penalties.
  • Flagrant Technical Fouls: The player is charged with a flagrant technical foul, which counts towards their five-foul disqualification limit.
  • Penalty Free Throws: If an unequal number of players leave the benches, the opposing team is awarded two free throws for each additional person who left, followed by a throw-in at the division line.

Two of their players did. The second one chest bumped Rylan's back.

I mean, there's levels to this stuff.

Griffen was making some sly comments while walking by their bench. He was not getting into guys' faces or taking cheap shots (which he's done in the past and that was pretty roundly criticized around here).

Like I said, I'm not going to advocate for it. But it was pretty tame and St. Mary's lost their cool. I'd love to know what was said because it really set them off and Griffen was completely disengaged by the time big boy found his stones.

The funniest part to me was Rylan side eyeing him as their 'sick' player came off the bench and picking up his walking away pace as he got grabbed.

I sit 5 rows behind the visitors bench at Reed and there is a tremendous amount of trash talking going both ways most games. What Rylan did was a nothing burger.

There are a handful of people here who might pass out and die if they ever watch a basketball game courtside.

Craigy- to what exactly are you referring? im questioning your reading comprehension, but i'll give you a chance to explain...

(if explaining the risk to you is "making up scenarios that didnt happen" no need ti respond.

i guess if i say it's stupid to let a kid play with matches because he could burn a hiuse diwn, but that didnt't actually hapoen, you would criticize for "making up scenarios that did t happen"???

I'm not sure what a Rylan could have said to earn any physical response. Dude got punked on the court and couldn't handle his emotions. **** talk is the norm, physical contact outside the normal flow of a game is not.

With that said, glad the refs just let it go and that the St Mary's bench took care of it.

First comments above are so ridiculously homer.

Griffen was STUPID for stirring up a situation- no matter WHAT the background was. What if that guy had punchef him? He likely would have gotten in a fight AND suspended from next game.

So much to play for and so foolish to risk it.

It's one thing to talk trash during game, and quite another to act completely classless and put diwn your opponemt when they just suffered the biggest athletic dissapointment if their season.

Griffen was WRONG, whether he's an Aggie or not!

GTFO here with this nonsense

I understand that trash talking is part of the game. I just didn't like when it happened or that it appeared Griffin went to their bench to say something. Maybe that wasn't his intent, but seemed that way on tv. After the win is secured, trash talking isn't necessary.

A) of course he went to their bench to say something

B) trash talking isn't ever necessary but it means the most after the win is secured.

Trash talking often comes with that ultra competitive mindset that you want on your team. It's hard to tell players to turn that off and on. And so I'm ok with it happening.

Not necessary at that point imo( if ever). The scoreboard said all that needed to be said. Not a fan of the trash talk even tho I know it's a part of the game culture

Mursky should have thanked Griffen. His words cured his illness. He immediately went from too sick to play to fighting shape.

This deserved a re-tweet here. Funniest comment of the tournament thus far. Made me LOL.

Using Caps Lock with random words throughout your post doesn't make your point any stronger.

In your case, it made an already ridiculous post even worse lol

Hell I've seen trash talking in volleyball that almost lead to blows and this was a bunch of adults on a traveling team and not even close to D1 athletics.

Also - the "Olde English" quotes were hilarious.

If you paid attention to the post-game presser from the St. Mary's coach, he alluded to a lack of discipline and failure in the team leadership - and i believe this was aimed at "Mursky".

Looked like it started with Griffin walking by their bench running his mouth.

Should a player come off the bench and grab another player....no. But a player doesn't need to walk to their bench and talk trash when the win is secured. Seen this from Griffin throughout the season.

I think Griffen just plays with that energy, and sometimes to his detriment. But it does give him an edge

When I used to play pickup bball almost talks and curses here and there. The more competitive the game the more people talk.

Later, when I'd bring my kids to play tennis I'd hear all the basketball players and I thought man I wish my kids didn't have to hear that.

When you're on the outside it seems bad but when you're playing it's pretty normal. No biggie. Just don't get a tech.
