9 seeds have won 53% of the time since the tourney expanded to 64 in 1985. My AI may not be updated. It clearly is a 50/50 game, but for some reason, the 9's have had an edge.

Sounds dumb, but I think there's some psychological advantage being the #9 and proving your team is better than the #8.

Every year I pick 2 9's and 2 8's to win because it is a virtual coin toss. Didn't think all four would ever go to just one side
