Former Texas A&M guard Ruben Dominguez has found his new home, signing with the Xavier Musketeers out of the transfer portal, according to On3's Pete Nakos.
Dominguez spent just one season with the Aggies, playing in 34 games with 27 starts. The 6-foot-6, 213-pounder averaged 10.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He made 40.0% of his 3-point attempts on 6.3 attempts per game and was one of four Texas A&M players to shoot atleast 40% from deep.
He scored in double figures 18 times during the 2025-26 season, including in eight of their first nine games to start the season. He scored a career-high 30 points against Manhattan in their sixth game of the season, but he struggled in the second half of the season.

He is originally from Puerto Real, Spain, and played professionally overseas before joining the Aggies. He will have two seasons of eligibility at Xavier, which went 15-18 last season in Richard Pitino's first season as head coach.
Dominguez is ranked as the No. 110 player overall and No. 24 shooting guard in the transfer portal by On3. He is one of four Texas A&M players to enter the transfer portal and the first to find his next school.

I wish him good luck at Xavier! He did not know what Bucky Ball was about besides shooting threes. He found out it was not for him.

It says he has 2 seasons left. It thought he only had 1?

This one really hurts and I know his numbers the last 3 months, but I still think Ruben was and is a game changer. I dont want to face Xavier.

Private Catholic school of 5,600 students in Cincinnati, Ohio will be a bit different for him, I'd imagine. Surely easier to get open-looks in that conference. Good luck to him. Memorable player and Aggie.

Aggies played Xavier in the NIT Championship at Madison Square Garden in March 2022, losing 73-72. Boots' last second shot that would've won it rattled out. I was at that game, and thought Quenton Jackson was a stud.

I was hoping we could keep him in Aggieland, but it didn't work out. With some adjustments and off season training, I think he will put up good numbers next year in the big east.

Ruben Dominguez: I'll remember you as a great three-point shooter from the first year of Bucky Ball and also someone who appreciated Texas A&M and worked hard to get Aggie wins.

Thanks for your nice message!!!

Wishing you mucho bueno suerte in the future, OldFox61

No way he got money-whipped by Xavier. He either got pushed out since he faded so much at the end of the regular season, or the Catholic kid sees a better fit for himself at a private Catholic college culturally and socially. Not everyone is a hired assassin, and after all, these are young adults trying to make their way in life.

Best of luck to him. He was fun to watch when he was on-fire from deep.

Started out well and just faded away. I was expecting better from his experience and age but didn't really match up with that. Wish him the best and of course next year he will be shooting 50% from 3 averaging 24 points a game ha

Agreed. He took a lot of heat because he faded late in the season but was hoping to see what he would look like in the system in year two.

All due respect, Xavier likely has double the NiL budget as A&M. For context, Bucky is making 3ish and Pitino is 4ish. They actually care about basketball.

Do they really?? That's crazy.

Big East basketball school. I don't know but that coach salary discrepancy would indicate it. A&M just doesn't really invest in hoops. I'm not passing judgment but you can't base basketball on football. We're not a "have" in basketball terms.

FWIW:

"According to multiple sources, Xavier was operating this season with an NIL budget around $5.5 million, which would place the program just below the Big East Conference average.

That number doesn't make success impossible, but it does make it harder."

Based on reports, the A&M NIL budget is beefed up quite a bit with Bucky's new deal. If that 5.5mill number is true for Xavier, we have a much higher budget just based on getting Haggerty and retaining both Mgbako and Clemence

As the article notes, if it isn't $10 million it isn't competitive.

He was great at shooting when he had an open shot. He wasn't great in most every other aspect: slow, couldn't block out or rebound, defense was subpar.

After seeing him play the last half of the season, wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he was encouraged to look for a new team if he wanted to get more playing time.

I think Luke said Bucky wanted to keep him.

He would have been better if we could have used him in a more limited fashion.

To contextualize this number moving forward, it's important to understand that since Xavier doesn't have football, they commit a much larger amount of their revenue share to men's basketball than A&M ever will.

We might be outspending them, but not as much as one might think if you are solely referencing NIL figures.

Why is everyone so nice to athletes that quit the team and go somewhere else
You must be that guy who's girlfriend dumped you (because she cheated on you) and you thought being nice to her and wishing her well would someday bring her back
Then you wonder why the next girl you dated is uglier and fatter

I'm referencing linked articles and also have in mind Michigan's supposed $10 million nil budget that won them a championship. I certainly think it's worth noting the revenue sharing is distinct from NIL though I call it "internal" NIL since the distribution is legally to compensate for student athletes name, image, and likeness usage by the school which was not compensated previously.

If I were to guess, the total being at $10 million is notionally competitive. But there might be a devil or two in the details?
