What's your take on LSU's struggles the last 2 weeks?

Lack of discipline and no team identity IMO.

But we'll find out a lot about who LSU is on Saturday and the full story over the next 5 game stretch.

I predicted before the season this was a 10-2 team with 9-3 more likely than 11-1. I was called a dumbass.

LSU has no sense of urgency and has played without intensity...except for the Washington Game when they came out and just annihilated a pretty decent team.

They pretty much dominated Auburn defensively, but couldnt' get anything sustained on offense after the first two drives where we just went down the field like Auburn wasn't even there.

Dont' really know what to think about them right now. Could blow Florida out, could go either way, Florida could roll them. Who knows??

Yeah, but that probably had nothing to do with your football opinions.

The o-line's pass protection is very shaky and Mett has the tendency to hold the ball for too long. He needs to get rid of it much quicker without Chris Faulk there to protect his blindside. The starter at LT against UF will most likely be Dworacyk who is an OG. Another problem that LSU is having is dwindling veteran on-field leadership. A lot of the leaders left for the NFL or cannot suit up. The veteran leaders on the field are Sam Montgomery and Eric Reid, but really no one on the offensive side. There is too much youth on the field due to departures and injuries. Some vets will need to step up and start making some noise. Mett has even admitted that he needs to become more serious. First step was shaving his Ron Burgundy mustache.

And Copeland is good to go. So that's good.

Not sure why RS isn't a leader on the offensive side. He seems very passionate about LSU and is a Sr

I don't think Copeland plays against UF. I think the FB will be walk-on Connor Neighbors who has been pretty effective up the middle but may not be athletic enough on stretch plays. Shep is more of a leader off the field. On the field, his play isn't quite up to par to set the example. A lot of the players are either too inexperienced to step up or are naturally soft-spoken. We don't have a Honeybadger running around firing the team up.

The hits keep coming. Starting OLB Kwon Alexander suffers a broken ankle.

Starting OLB Kwon Alexander is out for the rest of the season. Alex Hurst, who started at LT in the last two games, may not play against the Gamecocks. LSU will face the Gamecock defense with 2 freshman o-linemen and only 1 returning starting o-lineman from last season(OC Lonergan). This may get very ugly.

Not a good season for LSU on the injury front. I hope it figures this out enough to pull off a win against South Carolina - and then lose to A&M, of course.

Hurst, who has played LT for the last two games, is now officially out for the game vs the Gamecocks. The starting RG is also out and quite possibly the starting OC is out for this game. The offensive line will be composed of all backups except for the LG. The QB better buckle his chin strap on real tight.

I like you Japan. You almost make me not want to enjoy LSU's woes.

Almost.

I always hope for my favorite teams to win and do well but I try to stay objective to temper my expectations. The ones who add to the meltdowns are the ones who are unrealistic on what they expect each and every game. In games that are evenly matched, those fans expect a sound victory. In games that favor LSU, they expect 60-0 victories. These guys think anything short of a national title is failure. There are those types in every fanbase including yours. The run of success for LSU has made some fans quite unbearable no matter win or lose.

I'm born and raised from south Louisiana. Believe me, I know! Hell, I was an LSU fan up until 99 when I decided to be an Aggie (what horrible timing on my part!!!). So the last 13 years have been brutal for me.

And I was BLASTED on TD.com preseason for suggesting LSU might go 9-3 this year.
JapanLSUfan

To suggest 9-3 after a 13-1 season is a bit insulting and I can see the negative outcome of posting that on an LSU fan site. You also have to consider that it's the obnoxious ones who speak the loudest and try to speak for the rest of us. I have been blasted on texags for far less.

I thought JJ was better than Mett. That was the key difference.

I saw the offense not being as good (who was tops in SEC scoring last year I believe) and the D to also not be as good because of the secondary.

Mettenberger is a better QB than Jefferson but Jefferson's running ability may have fit the scheme better. You also have to take into account that Jefferson/Lee had a completely healthy offensive line for almost the entire season while Mettenberger is playing behind mostly backup and freshmen linemen. It's affecting the running game as well because they cannot generate the same push as they did last season. This season has proved why Mettenberger did not get in front of JJ/Lee because he was not the obvious better choice as a new player in the lineup but it does not show Mett as a lesser QB because he is working with an o-line that is in shambles and without their reliable deep threat Rueben Randle who left early for the NFL.
