Or another way of asking how connected would Paul be to the inner workings of the Bama program and secret info. Stuff that he might know but wouldn't say on his radio show?

TIA.

Are you implying that Fran is still publishing a VIP newsletter at Bama?

I ask because on todays show and on recent shows he has made comments that probably mean nothing but would indicate to me he knows that Saban is thinking about leaving bama.

Now he said nothing even close to Saban is leaving but spent time today speculating what motivates Saban to perform at a high level. He did so in passing but the the way he said it made me think he knows something.

I think the average fan listening did not make the connection that I did.

Saban likes to keep things close to the vest and I doubt anyone outside of the program/university administration knows his true intentions. His announcement to leave LSU for the Miami Dolphins caught everyone by surprise because he basically said straight up on national TV that he will not leave. If any outsider would know anything about Saban, it would most likely be Finebaum. I wouldn't put it past him to follow the Brinks truck. Bama is one of the top spenders in college football but no way they can outbid NFL owners.

It's obvious from comments that he knows Saban and his wife and family well. I would assume he knows a lot that he doesn't talk about.

Saban was a disaster in the NFL but he is a masterful coach at the collegiate level. I don't see him leaving for the pros, even if they did roll in with a Brink's truck. How much money can you spend? Alabama will pay all he would ever want.

Paul mentioned that he doesn't think Saban cares about money anymore and that he needs to be challenged.

I took this to mean he is looking to win at a non traditional power.

I wonder if Saban will ever tire of the demands of being a head coach at a high profile college and just be a DC in the NFL. He could make similar money with the right team, and he could just focus on defense.
I doubt it, but you never know what someone will do when they wake up tomorrow.

Some people take failure as a challenge. Pete Carroll made his return and has done pretty well. I don't think anyone outside of those closest to Saban can understand how his mind works. He was not human at LSU and I doubt much has changed since then except for added experience. The only university football program with a bigger treasury than Bama would probably be Texas and I doubt either could shell out the type of a money that an NFL team can. We are talking about organizations that are willing to pay QB's and in some cases a DT over $20 million per year.

I think he just loves to stir up controversy to keep his ratings up
