In for ZERO offensive plays in his last game for LSU. Played a little on ST. What a waste of good talent!

First they trumpeted his arrival as "the #1 dual-threat QB recruit in the country," and then longed for him to get some early PT.

Then the wise LSU coaches convinced him to move to WR, and the team and the LSU media tried to convince us that it was his idea.

The rest is the unfortunate history.

A wise lesson for recruits considering making Baton Rouge their college home.

Dude would have been a star if he had chosen wisely and come here.

rausr, that's all true. But RS loves LSU. He's like our Matt Davis. Dude loves purple and lives gold.

He might do it all over again given the chance

GCS despite good talent, he disappeared at LSU. I don't expect any player would want a repeat of that.

His problems were..

1. As a WR he couldn't catch and wouldn't block.

2. As a RB he went down as soon as a defender laid a finger on him.

3. As a QB saying his arm was weak is an understatement.

4. He can't catch a punt.

So...it was really difficult to find a place for him to play on offense.

Star at what? QB? Manziel throws a better football laying flat on his back than Shep can throw with a running start. He would probably thrive in a Denard Robinson type of role if he wanted to stay at QB. Maybe he should've went to Michigan when Rich Rod was still there.

I went to high school with RS in Houston so I wish him the best. When the Aggies were recruiting him I tried to get him to come to College Station but everything happens for a reason I guess.

On the local Houston news they had a short little piece on him training for the NFL Draft. I hope he gets picked up by someone. Heck the Texans could use him, we need some speed.

If you cannot teach a guy how to catch in 4 years then you need to fire your WR coach. LSU wasted a very dynamic talent.

A guy can either catch the football consistently or he can't.

Some guys just can't.

He would have been a great punt returner if he could catch a punt..but he cannot do it consistently enough to put him back there.

Its a damned shame, but it is what it is.

Shep has seen 3 WR coaches during his time at LSU. The first guy was good but got canned for an NCAA violation. The second guy came from Urban Meyer's coaching staff at UF and surprisingly sucked. His last WR coach has been here for a year and it may have been his decision to move better guys ahead of him.

When LSU fans tell you they want a Johnny Football tell them they already had one, his name was Russel Sheppard.

Doesn't matter if it's true.
