Am I the only one happy to see LSU/Florida lose?

OP, you are dead wrong.

I'm ashamed that you would even post garbage like this. You really think that the majority of the SEC country will be rooting against A&M in the CB?

I wish Staph would use the ban hammer on you.

Made me laugh. Will never forget the pop Malena delivered to that guy.

Kept wating for Muschamp's head to pop last night. He and Pelini need to get together sometime. That could be entertaining...

Overall, I root for the SEC. But if some SEC teams have to lose, LSU and UF are okay with me. We recruit directly against LSU and I don't like muschump. I hope Bama destroys Notre Dame.

That's the kind of thinking that got t.u. the LHN. What's bad for our opponents is not good for us. I can understand experiencing a little bit of emotional schadenfreud when someone like Muschamp takes a pratfall, or you imagine how some obnoxious LSU fans took Lester's play calling late in the game, but, for A&M, logically, LSU and Florida losing was in no way a good thing.

I'm not saying we all need to rejoice and have a warm fuzzy feeling when other SEC teams win, or that it's wrong to rationalize a few positives when they lose, but, objectively, other SEC teams losing outside of conference is not good for A&M.

I don't think it matters much. We are reaping huge recruiting benefits from entering the SEC, from having unexpected early success competing in same, and from all of the Heisman hype.

Overall, I find myself pulling for the other SEC teams in non-conference battles but it doesn't hurt me that bad to see LSU lose for example.

Winning our bowl game, especially against a traditional recruiting rival for texas talent like OU is by far more important than what the other SEC

We only benefit from being in the SEC if it is perceived to be the strongest conference out there. Unecessary bowl losses hurt the perception of the SEC--maybe not all that much on an indivdual basis, but, if they start piling up, it will hurt the conference eventually. I don't want us to be in a situation like we were in the '90s where we were winning the SWC but got no respect because the league was perceived as being weak (and it was).

I hope everyone loses except us. Don't see the problem with this mindset.

The perception of SEC domination, be it real or not, only helps your in state recruiting, does it not? It is one of the biggest recruiting differentiations that you have over all the others schools in Texas. I think that A&M will prosper due to it and I think that it is in your best interest to embrace it.

spot on.

SEC pride is not unlike Texas pride. pisses others off, but has that mystique to it.

Hey OP, i understand you hating the SEC pride stuff up until last June. Time to embrace it now! It's OUR BRAND!

Well, I saw the Florida loss coming and LSU really did not want to be in the Chick-fl-a bowl, (they wanted Cotton) and it showed. Felt sorry for MSU, for they were the only ones that I felt were over matched.

As for wanting them to lose, in a way, yes (I have hated LSWho for years before we joined the SEC and Muschamp still has that t.u. taint to him). However, I will be rooting for Alabama because they are representing the SEC, not just themselves. I keep on hearing how the SEC is overhyped. They have not heard anything yet if ND wins, especially by the NE and Mid-West media.

Can't remember ever rooting for lsu...
Muskratchamp is enough reason to always root against florida...

Don't have any reason to root against a team we've already beaten.

Roll Damn Tide.

2. A lot of the SEC talk here is probably a reflection of what we've had to endure the last couple of years- so now that we're part of it and excelling, we're going to tout how good it is and throw it in the faces of the other conferences who said we'd get killed. (better to argue that it is a great conference and we STILL excelled, than claim it was just over-rated).

3. The SEC is doing fine if Ags and Bama win, and I think they will. In fact, it will probably have its best finish in a long time as far as teams in top 10/top 20.

I think I was pretty nail on the head, with apologies to twk, whose opinion I disagree with wholeheartedly.

FL and LSU losing did not hurt the SEC perception because A&M and Bama dominated, as did SEC in the final rankings.

Without their losses, A&M would not be in the Top 5, which is a major accomplishment for us and additional momentum builder.

Equating that to LHN or any kind of t.u. arrogance is just so off base. Almost seems seems like you would have wanted A&M to lose that game in Tuscaloosa at the time- I mean that victory appeared to end the SEC NC string!

We're a conference, but we have to root for our own team first to excel and finish the highest it can in conference and in the nation.
