Will you always pull for SEC teams in NC?

I can understand many Ags pulling for Bama. They pose no harm to your recruiting and are less a threat to you than Arky or LSU. I cannot see any A&M fan pulling for the Tigers or the Piggies.
I never understood the whole conference love thing. I pull against Bama, Georgia, and Carolina because we need those states in recruiting. When those f***ers lose, we benefit.

I will, as long as they aren't against us in the MNC. We now have a pretty firm hold on the special TXHSFB talent that Mack Brown & co. have been wasting for years. While it'd be ridiculous to say we shouldn't worry about recruiting outside of the state at all, another team in the SEC winning it all wouldn't hurt us as much as other teams. In fact, it would only add to the appeal that our SEC ties are something extraordinary.

That's true. Nothing beat Texas high school football, and as long as Ole Butterteeth is at tu, y'all are gonna roll.
Tennessee, on the other hand, has most of its talent in the middle and western part of the state. Those areas are actually closer to Tuscaloosa. So as long as those goons are winning, we're ****ed.

In Tennessee, I'd see it exactly the same way. Except for the Gators, actually, I'd think every school in our conference wouldn't want competing forces to win. TX and FL have high quantities of high-quality players.

I think part of the conference pride is existing off of our current and former students wanting to separate ourselves furthermore from the Big Whatever, where selfish interests are on display the most. Extreme opposites, or so we'd like to believe it to be.

I hated the move to the SEC and still do. Other than Tenn. I hope every school in the conference loses every game in every sport.

No ag tag so no one cares about your opinion anyway.

Terrible troll.

Ags have a lot to gain by repeatedly showing that our conference is head and shoulders above the others. That was not the case in the Big 12.

almost universally, i will root for an SEC team to win the NC. it maximizes the SEC brand, which is what we're selling to distinguish ourselves from the rest of the Texas schools.

If LSU becomes a large thorn in our sides (recruiting-wise), I reserve the right to change my tune. Lately they haven't been such a problem with Texas kids, and we've actually gotten some good ones out of LA. I know they sign their share out of TX, but it seems the TX kids that go there typically declare early and we haven't seemed to have gotten our nose bloodied by it in a while. The next Harvey Williams or Craig Loston may change my mind.

And of course, we could get into a nasty rivalry situation with some school that hasn't traditionally been a rival (shades of TTech) where I just couldn't root for them, but so far our opposing fans have been 98% enjoyable. 2% of lunatics/azzholes is to be expected anywhere.

7 consecutive national titles is a pretty nice talking point when Sumlin is sitting in a five star's living room telling him where to go to compete with the best and get on the biggest stage, so from that perspective I'd be rooting for any SEC team.
If we can't be in the title game ourselves I'd just as soon a team we beat wins... proves again that we are an elite program ourselves, so in that respect I'm rooting for Bama in particular.

We are competing with Alabama on more recruits now than we used to. They aren't quite as much of a recruiting rival as LSU, but they will be soon. There are a limited number of players of the caliber these three schools are after, so if we keep winning we'll find ourselves in head-to-heads with Alabama a lot more than we used to. That said, we're in Texas so we have a big advantage with Houston/Dallas/SA kids.

Yes, I would root for any SEC team in the NC, even LSWho. We are in a unique situation in that we do not need others to fail in order for us to succeed. Even t.u. or OU will get their recruits but their failures will not impact our recruiting (even though I would like them to fail for other reasons), it is our success that will bring the recruits. As an example, we just picked up an OU commit. Why? Because we won. We offer Texas recruits the ability to play in the SEC, the best playing the best.

Yes, I will always pull for the SEC in the NC. As goes the SEC, so goes A&M and every other school in this great conference. We (the SEC) have to keep this momentum against the other conferences, which ultimately benefits A&M.

This is the biggest difference between the Big WTF and the SEC.

SEC! SEC! SEC!

Only true human scum would ever root against family against outsiders. I never pull for anybody to beat any SEC team in a non conference game. If you do so, please rot in hell.

Texas teams belong in Texas. While the SEC does have good football it is a cluster of trashy states. I feel like my gf left me and moved into a north Louisiana meth den.

I rooted for Bama even though it wasn't easy. It did help that the other team was Notre Dame.

I'd have a hard time with LSU...but I would've been pulling for them to stomp ND.

Arkansas wouldn't bother me at all. They aren't a recruiting threat.

won't root for LSU or Florida.

I don't have anything against Bama or the others in the SEC but I've never liked LSU or Florida and I'm not going to start now.

And I can't wait for all this kum-ba-ya **** to wear off. A&M needs a true rival and all the hate that comes with it.

We're all happy now and that's cool, but eventually I want it to shift to life-long rivals.

The other teams don't get along that well, despite what all seem. Everyone's pulling for A&M right now and we're the shiney guy on the block and I'm loving it, but from here out, we need to develop these rivalries.

so you always rooted for SWC and B12 teams to win in a non conference game? Cause if you didn't, you're a hypocrite.

SEC is great, I get it, and this bull**** of, well those conferences didn't matter. Um we were in the SWC for DECADES it always should've mattered.

You know why it doesn't now? Cause we developed decade long hatred and true rivals in the SWC that carried over to the B12 for some and now you don't have that so why not all just 'get along'. It's asinine.

We never developed much hatred for Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas and Kansas State did we? Cause we didn't have a history with them.

I find it so hypocritical for people to be saying this now.

I have and always will hate tu. I dislike tech and baylor and that comes from a lifetime of developing true rivals.

If all we're ever going to have in the SEC is smiling acceptance, that would suck. I want a true rival again.

LSU-Bama, Bama-Auburn, that's an A&M-tu hate there and don't fool yourself into thinking differently.

Can we all get along as well? Sure, but I want the rivalry too.

Funny, I used to tell sips to rot in hell. Now other Aggies are telling me to because I want true rivals again.

I think the newness of being in the SEC will wear off. I think as soon as next season we'll be rooting against some SEC-West foes in conference play if it helps us have a chance to get to the championship game. But there's a huge difference between rivalries where the fans and schools can hate each other but still respect each other as a business partner and competitor and what we had in the Big12. A conference built around one team where they only really care about #1 and try to hold everyone else down instead of lifting themselves up isn't a functional college athletic conference.

We will develop SEC rivalries and those will be much more like the old SWC rivalries we enjoyed. Sad to see the rivalry with tu end, but they became such arrogant *****es that it was bad for us to be associated with them.

I disagree. The hate and things said from Bama to Auburn and vise versa and LSU is just as ugly if not more than what we had with tu. We're just too new for many to get this.

go to some of the other school's boards, hell the tidefans has a post that says "no LSU fans can post here until further notice"

on the Auburn boards and Bama boards they haaaate each other for the most part just like we did with tu.

just cause they've been nice to us so far and vice versa makes many on here seem to think it's all like that.

When I was in Tuscaloosa, after all the fans would say how nice and classy we Aggies were. Totally unprompted, they'd then say how LSU and Auburn fans were not and some even said most of them were scum.

For some reason our texaggers, because they all had great experiences (as did I) seem to take that to mean the SEC doesn't act like some of our former rivals do. they do. and have for years.

I'm ready for the shine to wear off and get down to business. Can't wait to have comradarie with other schools, but this 'SEC doesn't down other schools bull**** is just that, bull****."

I pull for SEC teams against non-SEC teams. Their victories make all look better and stronger.

I'm old enough that LSU is a real rival for me. I want to beat the snot out of them. But I strongly disagree that the rivalries will be the same sort as from old SWC days. Those rivalries were so intense because we were *all* recruiting exactly the same area. It wasn't like poaching a couple of players from another school's area. ALL the schools were in Texas, except for Arkiesaw. And the pig people had to recruit in Texas to compete.

On the one hand that made it pretty fun. On the other it meant it was much more brutal and cut throat. It had become unhealthy. I can see a day in the not distant future where our rivalries within the SEC intensify and the lovey-dovey stuff goes by the wayside. I just hope they remain somewhat civil and with some respect. I think they will.

I do think the SEC rivalries we develop will be much better than the ones we had in the Stalag 12. I visited SEC states before we joined the conference and I would do so even if we weren't in it. Kansas? Iowa? Nebraska? no connection for me personally in over 25 years. If they hadn't been in the same conference I would never intentionally visit those places. No offense to those folks, just the way it is.
