He went to the Dolphins for a couple seasons before he went to Bama. He didn't go directly from LSU to Bama like you infer. It is the same thing Spurrier did.

He left for the NFL because it was his dream. He didn't like it and a great job opened up, so he took it. It was no slight to LSU.
