Will the league decide to stay at 6-1-1, go to 6-0-2, or add a game and go to 6-1-2.

They have to make a decision on it soon and the meetings in Destin are coming up.

I'm gonna go ahead and predict nothing changes.

Anyone else got a prediction??

I'd predict nothing interesting happens. Conferences that kicked around a 9 game schedule seem to have backtracked. A 9 game schedule would certainly help with the rollout of the SEC Network.

Nothing happens next week, but expect a 9 game conference slate in the future. I think expanding television revenue, the need for more network content, and strength of schedule in regards to the playoffs will force the SEC's hand.

Predict nothing will happen. I would just as soon keep 8 but have a 6-2 format and do away with permanent non-divisional rivals. I want UT to play four non-conference opponents - one marquee team, one average team from a major conference, and two tune-ups.

Hope we go to all rotating with east. Give me a good reason for more frequent road trips to some nice places like Nashville, Athens. Knoxville, etc.

Adding a 9th would actually reduce total inventory for espn and the secn. Of course you'd make up for it with quality.

14 teams is so awkward. It was perfect at 12.

Can we kick Arkansas and Missouri out?

Are you saying that we fit in better than a school that's been here for 20 years?

Wait...never mind...

No change this year, but 9 game schedule is coming. I'd guess by 2017

Do you mind elaborating? I'm not smart enough to understand why?

I think the permanent rivals are going to go away if it stays at 8 games.

Oversimplified version is we have 14 teams. Everybody plays a conference game then that's 7 SEC games. If we all play a OOC game then that's 14 games.

Every conference game added takes away up to 7 total games away if they were all home games

Ok, I see. The quality issue is more important to me, b/c of those 14 games, the majority of them will be vs cream puff that no one wants to watch.

I think that the most appealing thing about 9 conference games is that it is an extra big game. Until OOC becomes marquee matchups on a regular basis, I'll take the 9th SEC game.

I predict nothing changes. I would like to see the 9 conference game schedule but that does give the conference 7 more losses. Bowl bubble teams now may not get it. Top half of the league will thrive and bottom half will hurt more than before.

stumbled across this today... the SEC could keep 8 game conf schedule, permanent cross division rival, and teams from opposing divisions would see each other more...

The roomate switch should be voted on today and passed.

No reason not to do it, and every reason to. even with only 8 games you get the best games year in year out.

//Wonder if the comittee considered 5-1-2. We could rotate within western division to pick-up another game in the east. Team with best record to the SECCG with head to head tiebreakers within west division. Would make the entire conference alittle more cohesive-just my thoughts.//*

Apparently the vote for the 9 game SEC Schedule was 13-1 Against.

Not a bad idea... but let's say A&M and Lsu don't face each other one year and finish with the same record (8-0 for arguments sake). Then a head to head tie breaker won't work... how would you solve it then? SOS? rankings? there will be no more bcs rankings...

not a bad idea, but i like the Roommate switch a lot... i really hope the SEC chooses this

Cliff notes for the roommate switch?

The website i posted above goes in to further detail...

But the cliff notes version is 4 pods (2 three team pods and 2 four team pods)... The pods stay the same each year but in even years pod A (3 team) vs. pod C (4 team) and Pod B (3 team) vs. pod D ( 4 team).. .. Then in even years pods A and B switch.... Each team keeps a permanent rival with another team from another pod of equal size...and rotate with the rest from the opposite teams of the same size pod...againthe website breaks it down very well

Roommate Switch cliffnotes:

* Keeps SEC championship game and divisional round robin play
*Play every SEC school at least every other year
* Complete a home & home w every SEC school at least every 4 years (every class)
* preserves the historic SEC rivalry games
* works in an 8 or 9 game format

the website does a great job explaining how it works. The biggest complaints I've seen are that it will be hard to market/sell because there are odd year and even year divisions/schedules and that will make it too confusing. What do you call the division champ each year? I think the simplest answer is it doesn't matter.....there will always be one SEC conference champ leaving only one Division champ (who lost in the CCG). The make-up of the divisions becomes irrelevant because there is so much cross divisional play going on.
