I am very disappointed in Radio personality Paul Finebaum after reading about his interview with Scott Van Pelt on Monday and his comments on the Texas A&M and Bama game. For a guy who is going to be the voice of the SEC when the ESPN Radio show debuts in August, it sounds like he is the same “ole Paul” with his fire and brimstone sermons on the tide. I use to be a fan of his show that aired on WJOX 94.5 even though I was in another state and wondered if he would be objective when the “Ags” joined the SEC. As a diehard Ag, I often found myself laughing at the many characters he had on the show and found that they like us, had also enjoyed his commentaries and dearly loved their schools. But the way he would go on and on about Alabama football eventually had me think he was on the bama payroll or was getting a royalty every time he mentioned the tide. Hell, he ought to give back his Tennessee Alumni card and have the University of Alabama give him an honorary degree, he’s earned it. He makes some of the lobbyist in DC look bad.
So Paul, here is some advice, when you join ESPN and go live, I just hope you remember that you’re the voice of the SEC; Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, LSU, Florida, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Arkansas, South Carolina, Missouri, Texas A&M, and Alabama. We all stand ready to support you as you support us in your new position in promoting the SEC. Get yourself a good analyst to help you out, preferably someone who graduated from one of those Ivey league schools with a MBA degree in statistical analysis that does not have a dog in the fight. He or she will help you stay objective especially in games that involve SEC schools playing each other. Paul stop drinking the crimson Kool-Aid, you called the A&M Bama game wrong last year and you called it wrong again this year. With statements like "I think Alabama is going to win that game and I think they'll win it easily” don’t think, back up your statement with some analysis. It will help your credibility and who knows it may even win over some of us other SEC schools. I look forward to your post-game interview. Since you have some practice eating crow let me know if it’s any better the second time around.
