I believe that is the DKE house. They are know for offensive signs.

They nailed us one year after our star TB, Reggie Cobb, got kicked off the team for snorting coke back in '89. The homecoming float, complete with a huge nose with two lines of chalk running under it, read, "On the line today - (Coach Mike) Archer's job and Cobb's nose."

DKE House always has pretty creative and offensive signs. This may have been the worst though.

Ah the DKE's. My brother was a DKE at Sewanee. The Tulane chapter was banned and forced to write letters of appology to every chapter in the nation for their shennanigans. My three favorites were digging tiger traps of jello in the front lawn for halloween, faking the shooting death of Santa Claus off their roof for a bunch of orphan's Christmas party, and the final straw posting flyers around New Orleans inviting members of the community to a fried chicken, greens and watermelon picnic for MLK day*.

*Sign specified that people would need to bring their own forties.

So yeah DKE's in the LA are kinda known for their offensiveness.

LOL! DKEs will be DKEs. When I was at LSU, the DKE's housemother was insane. And I mean, really insane. Like "on leave from the asylum" insane. And when my sorority had exchanges with them, it was kind of like "enter at your own risk."

Funny thing is now, many of the former DKEs are CEOs and pillars of the community. Ha!

How long does one have to go before an historical event can be used for smack talk? I mean, people use Pearl Harbor or Hiroshima now and again. I guess the hippie generation is just extraordinarily sensitive to their tiny political sacred cow to be taken lightly by kids TWO generations later.

Still, it can be taken too far, or become too personal in context.

Why is it ok to make fun of some tragic events and topics but not ok for others... would this be more or less offensive if it was a VT shooting joke? UT shooting? Bonfire?
