I think a lot of it is just QB play. Manziel, McCarron, Mettenberger, and Murray are all really good QBs who will play on Sunday, and they happen to play on the best teams. Should drop off next year.
I could not disagree more on Mettenberger, he is likely the most talented QB in the league from an NFL skill set standpoint. It pains me to say that, but I believe it is true. Arm strength and measurables are all in his favor.
Revisit this discussion once SEC conference play is deep or near the end of the season where more data should indicate SEC schools who play defense are still playing defense.
LSU lost 8 players on Defense in the NFL draft last year...UGA lost 7 players on Defense in the NFL draft last year...take that and throw in 2 really good QB's...there you have it...the SEC still has superior size and speed on Defense relative to the rest of the Nation, hands down...the cream will rise to the top once again at the end of the season.
It's amazing what a good QB coach could do for a QB with the right tools. It's funny how so many people on here were laughing about the Cam Cameron hire. I think another big factor in Mett lighting it up is the fact that LSU's defense has become a liability. This defense is pretty awful compared to its norm over the last 13 years. The only defense that could be worse may be the 2008 defense. LSU will have to score around 50 to hang with A&M when they play.
