My attempt is to keep all this information in one place for documentation purposes.

No relation at all. Mom played basketball at SMU, granddad played basketball at Arkansas. Dad Eric is the Aggie.

He was on our league team 1 year w/my oldest son.

He had a decent series last year when they came here.

Someone help me with this Appel pickup. When did he commit? Was it way early? If not, what's the play here... Kauffer is the youngest catcher in the entire country, Appel near the end of his career. The fit seems odd at best. Appel seems to good to come and be a designated backup, but the same can be said for Max. Very curious situation.

He committed a month ago. He'll be a grad transfer so he probably was looking for a place close to home to play after getting his degree. He put up good numbers in the Ivy League over the last 2 years (obviously poor competition) and I think he's considered a decent defensive catcher. Kaufer is doing well, but you need 2 capable catchers.

I'll take an experienced upperclassmen that's hitting well over .300 all day, to help mentor an uber-talented youngster who's hovering around .150

Thanks. To be clear I have no problem with us taking him, but didn't understand from his side unless he was promised the job (which would concern me). Knowing good Dad is an Ag makes more sense. And we definitely need a 2nd consistent option at catcher.

Kaufman has been increasing in productivity at the plate, against strong competition, so in the portal world we live in the move just made me curious.

Max has definitely come on of late but I think when Jackson committed we were looking around hard. As mentioned, he's a grad transfer so unless he's a draft prospect he needs to find somewhere where he is accepted into grad school and can play baseball.

Also maybe he can help Kid with his technique. Several have critiqued Kid on stabbing/framing the ball. La
I remember one catcher he would set hit mitt farther outside when he would catch the ball his mitt was already moving towards the plate making the pitch seem better than it was.
