You know, some of us in need to settle down a bit. Do you think the Tenn fan base was doing backflips when they hired Vitello?? Was he a good hire? He was, but you have to know baseball to understand why they took a chance.
Heefner has done an amazing job. He turned down Baylor and appears to have turned down SIP before they hired Pierce. Baseball people understand what an amazing job he has done with far fewer resources.
He appears to be an excellent developer of players. The poster who suggested he can't recruit, accidently made that point.
To think he could be elite at A&M is not a stretch if you are paying attention.
If he is hired it may not have the immediate psychic benefits that a bigger name might. But maybe a better fit and longterm success.
I'm not an apologist for Heefner per se, I just think some of the comments criticizing him have been a bit silly.
