Need this position filled asap. Earley can likely keep the current class together but he needs a top notch support staff and to me Recruiting Coordinator hire is critical. Don't know much about Pennington as a recruiting coordinator but there's one option. JB Moss mentioned someone on the radio the other day as well. Steal the Tennessee recruiting coordinator? Don't know if that's possible but that would be solid as well.

It would make sense that the delay in announcing would be to make sure he could assemble a top of the line staff.

85 beat me to it, seems like Longly is cominh with him and he is currently the sips recruiting coordinator and apparently doing a good job at it, so the rec coord spot seems covered, the pitching coach is the question, have all the confidence it will be good!!!

From Texas. Dad played for A&M. Played minor league ball with Earley so assume they have a connection. Pay not much different.

My guess is the P5 coach is PAC12 or Big Ten. I don't think it's a SEC, Big 12, or ACC coach

Longly isn't a sitting head coach. He is good friends with Earley and likely will be on the staff

Just be some combination of frustration with his current program, dysfunction within his program, relationship with Earley or A&M staff. Absent that I'd would make very little sense.
I would not expect it to be a young SEC head coach. Perhaps an older HC and a lower tier p5? Ready to get away from the grind if being 'the guy', but not fully ready to hang it up? And if so it's possible our AC position could pay more than their correct HC salary.
Who really knows? All speculation at this point but it's basically what I was asking for the last 2 days so I'm cautiously optimistic.

He has only been there a year, and it wasn't a great year. Barely above .500 overall, and below .500 in conference. I could see him being in a hot seat next season, and if he isn't confident it would be great- a jump now might give him more negotiation power than yo wait to be **** canned.
The jump from Maryland to SEC has been rough. And him and Earley apparently played together in the minors.

Agree it won't be a major P5 HC, but "sitting P5 HC" is literally what Kendall apparently said would happen, which is why folks are speculating.
I think you captured it well. Mature coaches have zero motivation to stick around bad cultures/people. They just want to contribute and be apart of something positive in the twilight of their careers. I think its an excellent approach to mentoring Earley. Love the approach.

My thoughts exactly. A guy who's been doing it forever and never got the ring. Ready to slow down a bit at a contender that can win it all

Considering how the posters of this site like to read what they want into things, get disappointed, and then bleed all over the damn place I fail to see why it's an issue to point out the missing keyword.
Maybe Randy Mazey? Maybe he is someone else who would love to stick it to Schloss and the horns. (Coached under Schloss at TCU, and was the HC for W. VA.)
