He and Cain did not have the players appreciation to ask for them back. Anything else we will likely never know.

For clarity for the lurkers, he was loved by the fans. Turns out not so much by the players which was surprising to me. I had the totally wrong read on that as well.

Max came from MLB to the College ranks.

It could very well be that Max was naive to believe and trust Schloss was above board and that the timing was the timing. You have the AD and HC long-tenured in college that some outsiders might just underestimate?!

Players are always looking for an advantage and pitching coaches are no different.

I just don't get it with him. He literally got engaged on Olsen Field. That wasn't too terribly long ago. Strange thing to do when you're also in the midst of planning a coup. Just wild.

Mark this post.... this is how the saga with Max ends.

Schloss and Max likely thought they'd get many of the Ps to transfer. It didn't happen.

Now he has to start all over with a new pitching staff. He has to recruit and establish new relationships with pitchers. He will have to establish credibility with them. Sure Max got a nice bump in pay. He didn't really have many options.

We hit the midpoint in MLB and the next events are the ASG, Draft, and trade deadline.

The MLB draft is in July (14-16). Teams are going to draft 10+/- Pitchers and they're going to spend $5-6M of slot money on those Ps. A team like KC or St Louis is going to pick Max up this summer to go to their Developmental League for the newly drafted pitchers they got.

Historically, teams would send their drafted College Ps to the NWL for a "short-season" league. That league has gone away.

Max will be back in MLB by the Fall.... the Fall season and Fall of Sip's '24-25 season.

I figured texags wanted him because he was a great coach and it would have helped gut, Schloss, and his staff.

Definitely takes some of the sting away. It was an amazing staff but it looks like we got the best of it when you consider everything
