I would like to know more about this story of Alberts telling Schloss it's ok to go elsewhere. I don't believe Schloss's version so that makes me wonder if it was more of Alberts telling him to get lost. But that wouldn't make sense either. Unless the players approached Alberts and said hey this guy sucks. Sorry if this has been brought up already. My guess is we'll never know the true story.

Not sure how truthful any of Schloss's account is but My guess is Schloss already planned to leave and some of the smoke of departure or sour attitude had gotten back to Albert's.

This makes sense. I wonder how much alberts has bought into the culture since he used to despise us.

Trev knew Jim had one foot out the door. Nothing - and I mean NOTHING - was going to stop Jim from leaving, so Trev knew anything he said to Jim would be a waste of breath, time, and, energy.

Or an attempt to get POS to open up about his frustrations. You know your guy is looking. You give him a soft opening to get his issues off his chest without having to start the conversation himself.

Sounds like POS decided not to open up.

Nobody knows the exact word track of that conversation. There is a lot in that whole encounter that serves Schloss and gives him 'cover'. Very self serving dialogue. But while the baseball coach might 'want' a new stadium...there are realities that the AD has to deal with diplomatically.

Even the most wealthy athletic programs...you can't just dive into big $80fMM projects like that without thinking. Especially for a new AD who is dealing with the post-Jimbo aftermath. I'm inclined to discount this discussion because we all know CDC was courting Schloss all along.

Given the CDC and Schloss love session press conference, it was only a matter of time until Schloss made the leap to be with his friends in Austin.

I expect an AD to give his coaches good competitive facilities, good compensation and good staff to achieve objectives. If the AD says 'no' its not in the budget the coach needs to live with it. No matter what is said...that conversation might sound like 'if you don't like it you can leave'. But as far as I'm concerned, we almost won a national championship with these facilities and these resources. Resources and baseball fields were not the difference.

Exactly. That and Albert's being the grownup and saying "be a big boy, Jim. If you just want to whine about things, nobody is forcing you to stay here. Show some appreciation, B"

It's also a shot across the bow that "we know you are having conversations, so you better be above board and not talking with players about transferring" etc.

Might have curtailed or slowed down some of those conversations

It seems to intimate that Alberts isn't going to just bend all the way over backwards to offer a coach a ten year $75m extension just because "rumors say" they're talking with other schools. If said coach has wandering eyes, it sounds like Alberts is willing to just let them walk.

I say that's a good thing, folks on here have been wanting an AD who'll be willing to tell a coach to take a long walk off a Galveston pier for a while now. There isn't one single coach anymore that's worth more than the school, there are many great coaches willing to jump into the driver's seat at a place like A&M. Alberts basically told Schloss what a lot of people here wish he would say to a coach talking with other schools while they still have a job here.

I think our former coach is lying his ass off. And he does not think he is lying.

That is how narcissists ride.

Here is all you need...Our 1st Regional against Grambling was May 31.

This is what Schloss said:

Quote:

I told him that I had some frustration with how slow the ballpark process was going and that it was tough to operate without a sport administrator, but I was committed to working through it.
And then, less than 30 days later he is announced the new HC for the Sips. Now, I've never been to Disch-Faulk, but from what I understand words like "dump" are used to describe it. If you look at any Top 15 list of College Baseball stadiums, Blue Bell is in all of them and none of them include DF.

Now, he is frustrated for the $80M expansion/upgrade to one of the Top 5 college baseball stadiums and goes to a school with a dump... and there is NO pending consideration for improvements. NONE! In fact, it was either Feb 2023 or Feb 2024 that they announced there will NOT have any improvements.

SO... really... is there anything else you need to know?!

If you think it's a good thing that an AD would not fight for the best coach in program history, and best coach on campus, just because he's butt hurt he's talking to Texas, you're dumb. That's not what's good for our program. The best scenario would have been to make Schloss say no to his buddy. That's what would have been best. We would have put national championship trophies in the trophy case, plural. I hope Earley turns out to be a superstar head coach in his first ever HC job in the toughest conference in baseball, but that's asking a lot.

Yep, the stadium is just an excuse to support the move he really wanted to make. Olsen fine, really better than fine. DF is awful.

We will probably never get the whole story and that's fine. I'm just glad we learned who he was before it tanked the whole team. I know three days ago it looked like our program had received the death penalty but we are better off now by a long shot.

For the record, they did not meet at the cemetery. CDC merely posted the pic as some sort of proof of his location at a certain point in time. The cemetery is located about a mile from JS's property near Snook. CDC waited for JS to return from Omaha there to "offer" him the job at tu. U

Sorry but my BS meter is high on this. You don't have burner phones and manage the way he did or react to the way the question was asked in the press conference if you haven't changed jobs. He may have been at the Cemetary but it was most likely to go hang out and laugh at what they had pulled off. You will never get me to believe this is when JS was offered. JS and CDC can F off with this stupid story. Meeting to swing maybe but sign a contract. Please. Prove me wrong sips.

You have to understand how the game works. Up until that point all conversations were most likely strictly between only their agents…this is how all coaching hires are done so they can all claim plausible deniability up until the day the contract is signed. We all know it, they know we know it but it's also the way it's always been done

The cemetery is merely a recognizable landmark very near JS's rural "abode" near Snook. CDC merely snapped a time-stamped photo to identify his location on Tuesday as he awaited JS's return from Omaha. I doubt JS was ever there at the same time. They met at his house to discuss their business. They did not meet at the cemetery. That part of the narrative is bogus and only serves to distract from what actually went down.

The best part of Schloss' shameful departure and antics is no one believes him. Maybe Alberts said it, maybe he didn't. Even if he did, there was likley good reason. Let schloss talk; he looks worse and worse the more he goes on. His ego is wounded and he's looking to save face.

I've seen zero evidence of this. What I know for sure, is that the AD didn't have the awareness or care to talk to our best baseball coach ever about letting go at least one of his support staff. Yes Schloss should have gotten special consideration. Also the university has not been a good steward of the new baseball stadium project to Schloss. They should be in lockstep with milestones, timelines, design etc. if it has to be pushed out a little that's fine, but you don't just go periods of time not talking about it. Thats terrible leadership

But the one thing he wanted, complete control, isn't something ANY AD is giving him his buddy included.
