You keep acting like this was his right hand man. He wasn't. Baseball was not Chris Park's only responsibility.

No you misunderstand, my point is that you run these things by Schloss as a courtesy and explain WHY this is happening. He's a walking national championship(s), you provide that treatment for him. I mean, do we want to be elite or not? I don't know what we're doing here if we're not considering our best coach in the "major three" in every single decision. I have good reason to worry we don't have good leadership and or aren't making decisions best for our Athletic Dept and fanbase .

Completely agree!

I have a feeling this isn't going to go well for CDC & his bff. It's obvious bff will expect preferential treatment. He's not going to happy when he doesn't get it. And it's a when, not if, because he has unrealistic expectations and makes petty complaints. How do the other coaches and their staffs view this friendship? Some of them have to already recognize that it's a problem. Should tu have Co-Ads? CDC to handle his bff & a new AD hire to handle all of the other sports?

Well, you just aren't looking. We did everything we could to keep him. We came within inches of pulling Tony away from Tennessee and now we're here.

This isn't the whole story. This is just one side. We absolutely fought and did everything we could to keep him and preventing from going, from Trev to the big money Ags and everything else.

I've seen zero evidence of this. What I know for sure, is that the AD didn't have the awareness or care to talk to our best baseball coach ever about letting go at least one of his support staff. Yes Schloss should have gotten special consideration. Also the university has not been a good steward of the new baseball stadium project to Schloss. They should be in lockstep with milestones, timelines, design etc. if it has to be pushed out a little that's fine, but you don't just go periods of time not talking about it. Thats terrible leadership
It was Ross Bjork that slow walked the renovation. Everything on that front has been full steam ahead under Alberts.

The cuts that were made were necessary and affected every sport. I don't know how it would look to the rest of the department if Schlossnagle got a King's X on any changes.

Schlossnagle's real problem with Alberts is that he was hired in the first place. Schloss wanted the Army AD, and when that decision did not go his way (in March), I think that's when he seriously began looking to move. Combine that with David Pierce having a horrible start to his season, and you can see that the wheels were in motion by then.

He did. POS stomped his little foot and demanded that NO ONE from baseball be cut. That simply wasn't happening.

Also, multiple folks have confirmed that POS blew off a meeting about the stadium before CWS. He didn't want to be here, he wanted to go work for Chris, and nothing was changing that.

The article from BZ today (link) provides a lot more clarity. Frankly it's more than I expected us to say on the record but perhaps it was needed after the continued flluff cover provided by Fort Worth. BZ did a great job here. Trev comes off very matter of fact and the passage of a full week makes it a touch less emotional and reactive.

A few key points:

- our big money folks were way ahead of this and Trev knew well in advance. There was initial speculation before the season
- POS avoided Trev on multiple occasions and misled when confronted with direct questions.
- Trev knew if was over after the Super when POS no-showed the stadium reno meeting, and this is the point he engaged the search firm
- Trev waited in his office for nearly an hour to get a face to face, and in doing so talked with Cain. When POS finally shows up, that's when the "if you don't want to be here" conversation occurred. Trev's version also adds the additional statement "do not hurt these kids or our program."

I am very impressed with Trev so far. I knew his rep for squeezing dollars coming in, but this and the PR today seem to be very well done, professional, and in maintaining the interest of the kids and the school. He was not blind-sided and handled this about as well one could.

I can't believe after what transpired over this past week you would even try to defend slosh and put down Albert in this situation. Wow.

Would like him to read BZ's article and then come back here and discuss.

An employee that continues to whine about everything, always complaining about his surroundings, and even though he is one of your top producers, the mouthing off and criticizing the school's culture was over the top.

What didn't he like about our culture? I didn't know this

He pretty much constantly complained about our unwillingness to entrance the change he wanted... DJs and music in the stadium, dancing girls on the dugouts, etc.

In short, if he wanted it, and we didn't immediately jump and say Sir, yes sir! Then he'd find a way to beech about it in interview for weeks.

Very unfortunate. I always saw him as the one to bring positive evolution to not just our baseball program but potentially football too in adding cheerleaders to the yell leaders.
He understood we're trying to appeal to recruits.

I could not disagree more. I think we have great leadership.

Walking National Championship? He has none as of today. You cannot let even a high performing coach run the department to the extent he wanted.
Gut feeling here - Coach was whining and demanding as usual. Probably even let it be known he could go else where - maybe even preparing for his departure. Any self-respecting boss would suggest you move on if not happy in your current position. Listening to the AD and coach via press conferences, my mind knows which one has integrity and class.

I would like to know more about this story of Alberts telling Schloss it's ok to go elsewhere.
-I saw someone had asked the same question.

That question is a "best practices" comment in the business world. It is a perfectly good question to ask and is approved by most HR groups.

If a person is not happy in a job, they sometimes are reluctant to leave. You ask that question so the employee doesn't feel bad about leaving.

An employee that is not happy about his job is even happier it is asked.

I used it twice in my tenure and the people I asked are still my friends today.

Don't work in a job you don't like. It is not good for you and it is not good for the company.

Trev was just using a best practice move. And it worked for both sides.

Sloss is happy to be with his friend and we are happy that we have a manager who is thrilled to be here.

Win/win

I didn't really know much about Trev Alberts and I wasn't sure what I thought of him initially but when I heard him speak yesterday, I was impressed.
