Sounds like he was fed left information... only for a purpose of being used. Happens a lot.

You can't fault someone for that, IMO.

Leads me to believe Longley is staying, hence no announcement on his hire. They had no plans to retain him but schlongs ego couldn't let him come to the good guys. Just my speculation. Maybe I should start D100 baseball and get paid for wild ass guesses and rumors.

Edit to say, I wish we'd make a hard push for Pennington.

Earley said in the interview that he was looking for a hitting coach that matched his style and a recruiter in one role which Longley fits. I can't see him stay in Austin in an off the field role if we're offering him one of our 3 assistant positions.

His folks are evidently Aggies, and his coach is here now. I don't think this was just a made up rumor. It had legs but in the end he stayed put. If we keep our guys we're still GOOD.

Brawny said it was a done deal almost immediately. Not announced, but none of the assistants are yet.

I know nothing but I'll be really surprised if Longley doesn't end up here.

Kendall casually said that on the D1 baseball podcast yesterday. It didn't sound like it was inside information but more what Kent was looking for. Guaranteed playing time at SS has been the rumor

There's been some smoke around him going to Ok State.

I want him in maroon and white, but if it isn't going to be here, that is a landing spot I wouldn't be sick about.

This is *the* rumor time of the year. No one knows what he is actually saying unless he says it publicly. I'm sure he'd like to be the SS. Most of the places he's looking at will have a competition at SS, or they have a fringe-draft SS so he'd have to wait until after the draft.

He's in a unique position in that he probably feels like he was treated like crap by POS, so he was leaving. ...then POS leaves first. He also likely didn't have a huge NIL deal, now with the playoff run he's probably getting contacted with some $$ offers. I know his dad made money, but it's still nice to have your own. His world has changed a lot in the last 4 weeks.
