AK is listed on the roster. Wonder what that means for her playing this season.
This will be something to watch. The whole system is in chaos.

I don't know for sure, but I *think* there is an SEC rule that prohibits softball players from transferring within the conference and becoming immediately eligible if they transfer outside of the spring portal window, which closed at some point this past summer.

But there is a baseball player that's transferring into Tennessee (from out of conference) and will be immediately eligible 2 weeks before baseball season starts.

If A&M wants to challenge the conference rule, I don't see how the SEC can justify keeping it in place under the current circumstances of college athletics.

I was told she was out this season
At the meet and greet, Coach Ford said that both her and AK knew that she'd have to sit out a season when transferring to A&M and she wanted to come anyway. Without knowing details, think it speaks volumes for the culture Coach Ford has built for the program!

100% agree with this and will add that it is extremely rare in this day and age.

Press conference was a good listen. Sounds like they are determined to get both Mya and Mac in the lineup and Kylie as they can. Makes sense. They need the power.

She mentioned that Mya has done well since the summer. The huge 3-run shot in the super regional may have woken her up - "I can do it!" Would be great if she can do what she is capable of doing during games. Her and Mac anchoring our power would be a great start.

We know Allie is capable of great things because we have seen it. If she can get it back it would be awesome. Kylie and KP can hit the ball really hard. So can Kramer. Indeed, many of the girls can hit the ball really hard.

Maybe not as many balls over the fence this year but hard hit balls can easily make it through the infield, hit a gap, hit the wall, down the line into the corner, etc. and lead to RBI's. A lot of them. Stringing them together can score runs, rally the team, etc.

I am getting used to her moving players around to positions they have not played before. She has mentioned it in previous press conferences over the past few years that she likes to do so. Scout was previously moved from IF to OF. Now Frankie from IF to OF. And now she talks about Amari and Koko in CF? Koko? She is great where she is but maybe even better in CF? We will find out!

Is it tomorrow yet ?!?!

Happy Opening Day Eve? I have a question for you all, if Mya Perez does win the first base job and Mac Barbara is the DH, where do you place them in the lineup. Do you have them near each other, or separated by 3 spots with some speed in between! I'm excited and just have zero clue how this batting order will shape up!

It is an interesting question. Mya draws a lot of walks. I think that has to factor is where she falls in the lineup. Mac needs to be 3 I think. Get her more ABs.

I could see

Koko
KP
Mac
Harp
Ojo
Mya
Kramer
KK
Allie

Maybe swap allie and kramer. But all 3 of the bottom third can run

Lots of ways to move that lineup around and I bet we see several of them this first 2 weeks

Happy Opening Day Eve - right you are !!!!

The coaches have frequently tinkered with the starting lineup the past two seasons. The coaches were new and a lot of the players were new. Trying different players a lot during non-conference and then moving players up and down during SEC. Who is 'hot' at the time is a factor.

They have put big bats at 3, 4 and 5 and sometimes just two early and spread out the others in the lineup.

Obviously it is better hitting one over the fence or getting a double with a runner or runners on so spreading them out is always a valid strategy. One I like a lot. Actually my favorite! Alternating speedsters with high OBP's (and SB numbers) with those with high RBI numbers. By design we have a lot of speedsters on the roster. Many ran track in HS.

We will certainly see a LOT of lineup changes in non-conference, in part because we have so many new players, but we have to a replace a lot of run production and there is certainly a huge number of options.

It will be so much fun watching it all - can't wait !!!!!!

Gig 'Em !!!!!!!!!

I forgot about pitching mentioned during the press conference. Coach and Lefty both talked about Baylor. We play them on Friday, our only game that day.

Recently, I suggested that Lefty and Sidne would start on Thursday (two games), not thinking about who our opponents are at all. But both Coach and Lefty talked about Baylor being a good test for each team.

Soooo, I think one of them will start a game on Thursday and the other will start against Baylor.

A might be completely wrong but regardless it will be fun watching all the games, regardless of who pitches!

Can anyone speak on our team's tv schedule this season and the percentage of games shown as network and streamed (ESPN+) televised games?

Last year was great, hoping for a repeat. ESPN+ is televised softball heaven.
It's been that way for a few years.

Every home game should be on SECN+, at least. I think the only limitation on that is SECN+ broadcasts are produced by 12th Man Productions, so staffing isn't unlimited. It seems we've missed a game before because they were covering other events on campus.

Most of the road games should be available, too. My only question is the Florida State event. I don't know how the ACC Network will cover it. I would expect the FSU games to be televised. I don't know if they will cover the Florida A & M games.

TexAgs released another great interview with Coach Ford just a wee bit ago. I really dig all the interviews and press conferences the past several days. A lot of enthusiasm - it is awesome!

It's almost Thursday !!!

That's why I asked, I assume we see Kennedy start against Baylor and see how she could go, but maybe pitch an inning or two just to get some rust out! But that's the great thing about this year, we have others who can easily win these game for us, so we don't even have to pitch Kennedy tomorrow! Although if needed, or ultimately an inning or two to shake the jitters out before she no hits Baylor Friday

Coach Ford will be live at Rudy's tonight from 6-7. You listen locally on 1620am/94.5fm WTAW or on the wtaw app. I also expect 12thman will have a youtube live link

Thanks for the info! I grabbed the following off the softball page at 12thman.com:

"The Aggie Diamond Hour features head softball coach Trisha Ford at 6-7 p.m. on Feb. 5, followed by head baseball coach Michael Earley at 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6. Ford and Earley will be joined by select players, while the show will highlight special features, questions from the audience and more. Additional show dates for the spring will be announced at a later date."

"Fans can join in-person at Rudy's BBQ to talk all things Aggie baseball and softball or tune into the broadcast locally on Sports Radio 1620 AM and The Zone 93.7 in the Brazos Valley. The show will be streamed inside the 12th Man Mobile app and on 12th Man TV, as well as on the Texas A&M baseball and Texas A&M softball Facebook pages."

I think the shows were on the same night last year, baseball the first 30 minutes and softball the next thirty minutes. Making each show an hour is great! They might have put the video on youtube not too much after the show aired live but do not remember. I will listen on the internet at the wtaw.com website. I recall listening to a LOT of Aggie sports on WTAW during my student days!

2 years ago separate. Last year together. This year separate.

The release is incorrect about the FM channel. 94.5 is correct.

Good crowd at Rudy's tonight. I don't think the Utah St softball team knew when they came to eat tonight they were coming to her show.

In addition to Ford, Lefty, Ojo, KP and Mac made appearances

Game Day !!!

Utah State being at Rudy's during the show IS funny as heck!

Great show last night!

From the conversations on pitchers I am assuming Taylor Brown is the one redshirting. I am really, really good with this. When we brought in Sidne and Grace it gave us eight pitchers. I was really hoping two of the freshman would redshirt, especially since we will be losing Lefty and Leavitt after this year. With Della not playing it brings the staff for the season to six, a good number. I AM still hoping Della comes back but I have no idea if this will happen. If not, I will not be surprised if Coach brings in an experienced pitcher through the portal after the season.

Excited to see the 'new' Lefty and Leavitt get out there. Lefty is already great but better? Wow! Leavitt had some really good games but then she had several games that were not. She did not seem comfortable many times. Coach mentioned her family moving to College Station (from CA). Must have been a great boost to her to have family close.

Let's get to it !!!

I never ate at Rudy's. Mostly at another place, I forget the name but they had the 'Aggie Special', served on butcher paper. On South College if I remember correctly. Ate there several times and liked it. Usually got brisket. Also ate the 'death burger' at Chicken Oil on several occasions. A lot of jalapenos and jalapeno juice. Double Dave's, too, for pizza and peproni rolls. I could not afford to drink enough of their imported beers to get on their 'around the world' list but that would have been cool to get my name put on the list on the wall and have it still there!

Tom's Barbecue.

I can still hear Dave South's voice on the radio talking about the Aggie Special "Served on butcher paper, just the way you like it."

There was also a bail bondsman who also had a radio advertisement at the same time that offered an Aggie Special. I always thought to myself "served on butcher paper, just the way you like it!"

Several thoughts. Lefty's off speed and the rarely discussed pitches with a 3rd speed are intriguing. I'm looking for that this evening.

Competitive kids are so much more enjoyable to coach and the team sounds like it's loaded with that character trait. That kind of fire inside one athlete is good, putting it into a team can trigger unexpected results. It certainly is easy to get that good vibe about this year's group.

Personal preference for Matt Simon, host of Diamond Hour at Rudy's (this is petty & maybe stupid), but please say ladies or players or something other than referring to them as guys every time. Once or twice, not a big deal. Every time? Still, I liked the show and I subscribed to watch because I'm a fp junkie. It's an enjoyable show, easy and fun to watch.

Finally, 3200 games televised this season on the ESPN, SEC platform shows how popular this sport has become.

Tom's BBQ was great.

I have a question about Flo Sports. Can anyone help?

It says you can stream on multiple devices if connected to the same home network, but it also says you can stream at work and home. I'm tech-illiterate

With one subscription, can I watch it at work and at home, or is this their way of trapping you into thinking it will work, and then you must get two subscriptions?

Should work for one session at work as long as none at home. But…I have not tested it. I've gone to the events instead.

There are 2 games today before we play Utah State at 4:30. At 11:30 Villanova plays Utah State and at 2 Baylor plays Abilene Christian. There are a total of 16 games in the Aggie Classic so the grounds crew will be busy.

I could not find any information about the complete schedule for the Aggie Classic. I went to each schools website to see when they were scheduled to play. There are 5 games tomorrow and Saturday and 2 on Sunday.

Dave South, "The Voice of Aggieland". I must have listened to hundreds of Aggie sports broadcasts with him doing the games !! Great memories !!

I did not pick up on Matt Simon's use of 'guys' so much but I DO like his broadcasts during games. Knows the game and team really well since he has been around so long. Calls the games well and keeps listeners updated on score, pitch count, runners on base, etc. really well.

This is correct. I've done 1 month subscriptions to FloSports the past few years for OU softball
