I've heard Wansing had surgery and is coming back. Anyone else see that confirmed anywhere? Would be huge.

It may have been missed because it was posted during our CWS run, but Wansing did an interview with Travis Brown a couple weeks ago and said he should be back for next season. I'm hopeful we'll have him.

FYI, doesn't sound super promising on the Aschenbeck front. Several others seeking similar waivers getting denied it seems. I'm not sure the exact circumstances.

But the everyday lineup is as filthy as I've ever seen at A&M

Q1. If Ashenbeck does not return, who is likely to be his successor?

Q2. Too early to tell about incoming fish to help the pen?

1. Not sure anyone can answer this question. We may never have a guy like Evan again. To have a pitcher you could always count on and who could throw 5 or 6 innings a series if you needed it is pretty rare. My best guess for a closer type guy might be J-Stew though. He was elite in Omaha and had a really great season overall.
2. I could see 2 or 3 of our freshman pitchers making an impact for sure. Might just be in the kind of roles that Wilson and Moss had this year, but who knows, could be bigger than that.

Baseball only gets 11.5 scholarships for the entire team (so that's pretty thin if that's accurate).

In the age of NIL, scholarships are more or less irrelevant.

You give the "schollies" to the out of state kids to offset their relatively higher tuition rates. Then give the in-state kids low/no schollies but enough NIL. The players all end up the same $ wise based on their NIL value regardless of their state of origin. And you don't have to worry about scholarship limits because NIL covers their cost of attendance +

Wrong. Tell Jace & Rudis & Sdao & Kent & the rest of the Texas talent we're pulling your scholly.

Let us know how that works out.

I'm sure they all do math and (if necessary) will gladly trade less scholarship money for even more nil money.

Is NIL money taxable income? I assume scholarship benefits are not taxed. It seems like NIL gives you the ability to have many more in a scholarship equivalent.

Academic scholarships are taxed but you can claim a credit based on tuition costs and income level. I assume athletic scholarships are as well since I didn't see any scholarship categories in the tax instructions.
