Was A&M always a stepping stone for POS?

In his infamous press conference, even if taken in the most favorable light, it seems to be that POS was saying that, when he took the A&M job, it was definitely not just a stepping stone, but a destination job, but that circumstances changed.

But, we all know that POS is a lying slimebag ******, and me thinks that POS protests too much.

The more I take stock of the situation, the more I believe that tu was the ultimate destination all along, and the A&M gig was just a pit stop on the track to that destination. Along the way, the combination of (in ascending order of importance) his success at TCU, the amazing atmosphere at Olsen, our amazing fanbase, and, most importantly, our NIL checkbook, resulted in more success than he had anticipated.

Unfortunately for POS's plans, our post-season just kept dragging on and on, delaying his opportunity to make the jump and start officially working for his new team. He pulled the trigger just as fast as he could given the unfortunate circumstances.

Put all that together and you get the train wreck we witnessed this summer.

Bingo.

STAFF, is there any way we can just make one POS thread for everyone to share their thoughts?

Eh, he wanted to get out of TCU because a divorce and his ex banging a member of the AD.

We offered an opportunity to compete with more resource but not be too far from his kids.

He never really embraced the culture and butted heads with the athletic directors. He then saw an out and took it.

Probably thought he could mold A&M into his dream school. Problem is we have traditions and aren't going to be tu. Rarely even references how 'it's different here and you can leave if you don't like it' sort of language. It sounds like that was POS's primary issue here. He was getting paid. He was going to get his stadium. He was winning. Fans loved him. I think he just genuinely did not like Aggieland. Which would make sense if he's a swinger freak

No, in his defense I knew exactly what he was saying in his angry answer to Zane. He took a job where he thought he could build his utopia. With Jimbo's buyout, and the change in ads, the job was no longer the job he took

POS could have had the job back when Augie was fired retired. If sippie did not contact him then they seriously effed up.

Let's stop bringing him up. He's an arrogant ass and his new name says it all, he's a POS. Good bye and good riddance.

I was heart broken when the news came out.. but now, I'm just so excited he isn't here! I've always thought he liked to whine, didn't realize it was this bad.

I don't think so. I think he got here and didn't like the fact that he didn't have complete control over everything baseball related. And didn't like the fact that Aggies can also be opinionated and aren't afraid to express those opinions (e.g., dancers on dugouts, anything concession related, whether highway 6 runs north or south). And he didn't get his pick of AD.

Basically a child who took his glove and stormed off the field, tearing out home plate as he left so other kids couldn't play... Well. He tried.

Things do change. Situations do change. Clearly his buddy as AD was a big factor.

For me, like others, it's not him leaving. It's the way. The timeline. The lack of transparency and professionalism. But I also work in a field that it's courtesy to give 2-3 months notice before leaving, so as not to **** over your colleagues.

With his best buddy the AD @ the cow shed in Austin, it was only a matter of time. POS would've kept hanging that move option on a spineless A&M AD in order to grab more power/money. Luckily, Alberts is not spineless.

Schloss does not seem to have much deep thought or self awareness as far as personality. He just focuses on the here and now and his needs. Common traits of a narcissist.

He wanted out of TCU. We needed a coach at the time. He had beat us the last two super regionals so we had tunnel vision.

He had everything needed to win at A&M. Was ranked number 1 when he agreed to make the change.

Clearly made the decision for his own personal needs again. Had nothing to do with baseball. He basically said that in his PC. He at least was honest for a little while.

While he admired our outstanding fan support and atmosphere, the university culture for him was meh. No doubt the belt tightening and AD changes were an annoyance, but he would have adapted and been fine had he not had an easy escape with his buddy in Austin.

Important thing is that he did not leave for a better job. Both programs are elite jobs, two of a dozen or so power programs that offer the complete package where you can consistently compete at the highest level. In reality, the situation here is better: gameday atmosphere, fan support, facilities (w/$80 million in improvements on the way). You would have to believe he'd been in line for a nice raise after this season. The tired argument that it's easier to win big in Austin rings hollow when you just played for the national title and had the core of a championship team returning.

At least to me, "stepping stone" implies a move "up".

I wouldn't consider the job in Austin to be a move "up". It's not even a lateral move and there's only one other place it can go.

I personally agree that DU is not a move up, for the reasons shared in this thread.

But, if you are an upside down pineapple loving narcissist, College Station is probably not a great fit, except that it gets you in the door into the SEC until DU is able to make the move into the conference.

I can see the point of view that this guys is unable to plan more than one month out (based on his past behavior), but the fact that he went out of his way to make the point that he came here to stay as his final outgoing message, paired with the fact that he is a self-centered lying liar, has me questioning his long-term motives.

The new girlfriend, swapping mate, whatever was not a fan of B-CS, even though he bought a horse farm in Snook for her. Texas A&M and it's culture are not a fit for everyone, and that's a good thing. So, seeya.
In no way does that excuse the lying, deviant way he chose to exit. It's proving to be the best thing that has happened to Aggie baseball, and him being exposed as a POS is icing on the cake.

Exactly

Not sure how Aggies are not seeing this one. Thus, stepping stone is silly thing to say. It was great job where he had the most success he ever had yet his personal life did not allow him to understand it. And that's OK.

To thine own self be true.

Austin is a better fit for him personally. TBD if his coaching style has the same success there.

He seems like a man who has been going through a midlife crisis for several years. When he went on stage with Pat Green, thinking back on that one, he's still looking for real happiness in life.

Clearly his girlfriend was not a fan of his baseball life. In three years had not seen her one time providing him support or enjoying watching him coach. Thats pretty telling.

WTF gives a **** at this point? I believe him leaving is the very best thing that could have happened to us. Now we have a coach that truly cares about the kids and will be very hungry to win a national national championship. Deekbag Did not care about these kids. He can go drink bleach for all I care.

Jim Schlossnagle has always been a transactional coach, who never really developed relationships with his players. In contrast, Michael Earley has maintained contact with many of his former players.

Eventually, he would've joined CDC. They've been close friends for a long time and anytime you can work with someone who knows you, and understands you, it's a plus.

He was looking for the sip job when the A&M job came open. It took 3 years for CDC/sip to fire Pierce. Then he had to start making excuses to get out of the A&M job, and take the job his buddy was holding for him.

The problem was the two weasels tried to crash then A&M program in the process. Del conte thought it was cute. Fortunately it not only didn't work it backfired.

Thanks to Early and his loyalty to his players we not only retained the nucleus of our team but we also picked up some quality players to replace those out of eligibility.

Now they have to deal with his infantile exit behavior and his Ahole buddy is going to have to hire a firm to repair his self tarnished image. Vibes of Chris Beard cover the man.

I'm glad he is gone and look forward to the future of Aggie baseball.
