Texas moving to SEC actually a plus.

Now I understand they are a cancer as far as a conference player. And I also understand their fans are maybe the worst in college, only rivaled by Ohio State.

They moved to the SEC for only one reason. They reacted to our football success in 2020 and had no idea what to do for their program so they said F-it.

The thing though, this actually might be the thing to really get us going. Especially in the NIL era. When it was announced three years ago they were moving, I have no doubt many of our boosters jumped and started or gave more to the NIL fund. It probably had a lot to do with our success in the portal the last three years. And now we get another boost bc of the coaching jump. Adding them also removed the SEC west. Playing Texas instead of Bama every year is a bonus, easier game.

Will be interesting to see the final record this year against the sips in the big 3. My thoughts are we are going to be pleased.

Texas in the Big 12 would have made the 12 team playoff a lot. Now in the SEC. Good luck.

Historically Bama and even UT and LSU in football have just as much power and cachet as tu. While UK has it in basketball.

Unlike the merger of the Big8 and SWC into the Big12 the locus of power in the SEC has long been established and is every bit as powerful as tu. The Big8 wasn't on that level.

tea-sips don't realize it but they are no longer the Joneses and their influence has been vastly diminished. They're coming into a conference where they're seen as a bunch of fancy-pants nancies who brag about daddy's money and how awesome tu was when their parents & grandparents were in school but nobody gives a **** because they're all rich too and quite happy to give the tea-sips a punch in the nose.

Historically tu has been able to just show up and expect folks to roll over and lose but when they get punched in the face they fold. In the SEC everybody (except maybe Vandy) will happily throw haymakers at each other all day and may the best man remain standing. tu doesn't want the smoke.

Be very cautious here. Don't forget their "journalism" school is very old. They have strong ties to E$PN which is equivalent to $$$$ to all conferences. SEC/ Sankey are already salivating at the deals that they might be able to make. Sankey is disturbingly close to them now. This is a "slippery slope". Yes the old/historic schools of the SEC are strong but keep your eyes on Sankey. I'm sure CDC would love to have his (Sammy's)position but they are only 4 years different in age. (Sankey being the elder) Don't delude yourself for a moment they will be treated differently. They have an established track record.

SouthWest Conference: Destroyed
- Teams/Schools destroyed
UoH
Rice
TCU
SMU

- Big 8: Destroyed

- BXII: Destroyed
- Teams/Schools destroyed Phase1
Nebraska
Colorado

- Teams/Schools destroyed Phase 2
Tech
Baylor
Iowa St
Ok State

Pac12
- When the Sips announced they were taking OU to the SEC, the P12 collapsed.
- Teams/Schools destroyed Phase 2
Every team and their athletes.
Even USC+UCLA+Wash+Oregon going to the B1G, with be devastating on their travels/costs.

The Sips are the locust that feeds on the good of others and destroys everything in the end. They are a plague.

Did you say CDC would be the next SEC commissioner? LOL

As far as the media crap you just posted. They had that the last 15 years. As well as controlling the Big 12. And did nothing with it. Texas's issues are not going to go away. Their arrogance holds them back.

In the last 50 years we are even in football wins. And at this point have the best set up we have ever had with regards to them.

There are repeated rumors that the BigTen wants a presence in Texas, and A&M is possible because we do not like being backstabbed nor the power that tu is likely to have due to its insider position with ESPN/Sankey.
We already fly a lot, so despite my initial negative reaction, I am kinda warming up to being a potential equal to Notre Dame (which is also rumored talking).

Their "journalism" school is the most overrated thing ever. It's done almost nothing for them in 40 years. What gave them cover in the 80's and before was their money and having close ties to the NCAA enforcement office so they were able to skate on infractions others got hammered on. It was their money in those old newsrooms more than anything and those journos are dying dinosaurs now that don't mean **** in the era of digital news.

And they don't have the advantage in money anymore. Especially not over us. But also not over LSU, Bama, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. Probably not over Ole Miss or Arky either.

Sankey may be a giant, gaping vag next to Slive but he's not dumb enough to let tu ruin the conference. The Big10 saw the national power shifting south so they had to aggressively expand. The reason the ACC is teetering is because the schools north of Virginia aren't as committed to sports and just don't care as much. And the PAC either didn't care enough or was too arrogant to think they could be pillaged but found out that people out west are more concerned with being woke than championships in major sports so they wouldn't commit the money. The SEC had the opportunity to take the only 2 programs left west of the Mississippi that have a brand and were being sucked down into a mid-major conference with pretensions.

tu and OU needed the SEC more than the other way around but it also blocks the Big10 from getting stronger in the South. And both tu & OU are basically strong, mid-majors joining a power conference at this point. They will not have an easy row to hoe in anything but maybe softball and even then they're going to find it more difficult than before.

And it occurs to me to post the obvious: A&M football would have a tough road to hoe, but baseball would likely dominate. Basketball would likely get killed, but who knows how A&M in the BigTen would go?

I could not agree with this more. Texas has historically had much much more money and political clout. Not to mention media presence than every single other school it it's conference. Even OU in the Big 12 couldn't keep up. That includes us as we've had a much smaller and less "influential" alumni base until the last 20 years or so. But those conferences and schools were driven by the state of Texas from a political and media perspective.

The SEC is driven by Alabama and to a degree Florida and Louisiana (now Texas too). The point being is the texas dick is no longer the biggest swinging in those rooms. There are plenty of SEC media that can't stand texas or Texas and have no problem pointing out things like this baseball coach fiasco. And every single school is rich on SEC dollars. texas still has big bucks but the discrepancy is now close to negligible.

This new world is going to be an absolute shock to those guys.

tu didn't destroy the PAC
the PAC new they had a business that was likely going to fail and the PAC ( with the help of tu ) looked to take the the 1/2 of the big 12 that had value for football

No kidding? Really??

It was headed that way because of the *****ing of the quasi-P5 schools in the Big12 and PAC.

They seem to have their eyes set on Tennessee first in the SEC - so weird. Could just be their fan base, but it is a weird first attack.

I always figured they would go for low hanging fruit first - teams they thought would be easier to cast off.

All the ADs and Presidents (minimum 9 schools), minus tu, should secretly meet and acknowledge the cancer that is tex. They should have a plan that when tex or Sankey begin to show their ass that they will step in and raise enough collective hell to shut it down, and threaten to replace Sankey. Make it the SEC plus tex and never The tu led sec.

sips next move is to join B1G. They will play their hand to SEC to get more leverage or leave. They will then be told to leave.

This happens within next 3 years...

It's only a bad thing if they outperform us.

We beat them in every sport and start winning trophies it'll be fine. We had a 12 year head start on them in the SEC and didn't really take advantage of it as far as winning conference and national titles

Tu did exactly what they wanted to with the media: own the conference. He's right when he says the SEC need to be on high alert. Look at this year's playoff. They beat out another supposed blue blood that was actually undefeated despite barely beating several very weak schools. That is what media love gets you. Then they use that "success" to make you do what they want

You think that it matters if Texas actually wins games. It doesn't.

Texas (and us for that matter) knows how to use their vast money and influence more than most other schools. Definitely more than the ones in the SEC.

Winning does not matter.
